I used this simple ‘mom trick’ playing the lottery and won $1.4 million — here’s my secret

When Jane’s* baby woke up crying in the middle of the night, she had no idea it would lead to the most life-changing discovery.

Unable to fall back asleep after settling her child, the mom decided to check her phone, only to find out she had just won $1.4 million in the lottery.

The method she used to secure the massive jackpot is so simple that anyone can replicate it (just not with a guaranteed outcome).

“Absolutely wackadoodle”

The stay at home mom, Jane*, is being referred to as ‘Lucky Mom’ and told lottery officials, “My baby woke up crying, and after tucking them back into bed, I had trouble falling back asleep. So, to pass the time, I opened the lottery app on my phone, and I couldn’t believe it when it showed that I had just won $1.4 million! – absolutely wackadoodle.”

On March 6th, she matched all five numbers in the lottery, securing the massive prize.

So, what’s her secret?

Well, whenever she plays the lottery, Lucky Mom says she always uses her kids’ birthdays.

It proved to be the winning strategy for that drawing, as the numbers were 6, 8, 16, 17 and 20.

“I’ve played [lotto] here and there, and when I do, I use my kids’ birthdays as my lucky numbers,” she told the Illinois Lottery.

She added: “I have the best job in the world: I’m a stay-at-home mom, and I already feel very lucky and blessed for where I’m at in life – but today, the word ‘lucky’ took on a whole new meaning.”

After she won, she apparently asked her husband if he wanted to know which kid’s birthday helped win the jackpot.

We hope he declined because that would breed some serious favoritism!

For lottery tickets, people often like to use meaningful dates, like birthdays and anniversaries, thinking it can increase their chance of winning.

But according to mathematician Ryan Garibaldi, picking dates isn’t always your best bet, literally, as “most people do that.”

Instead, he advises people to buy tickets with unpopular numbers and also purchase tickets from states that sell the fewest.

He also suggests picking sequential numbers, which won’t increase your odds of winning but may help you avoid sharing the jackpot with other winners.
