2024 Masters Tournament odds: Scottie Scheffler a historic favorite

The 2024 Masters Tournament is fast approaching, and a familiar name at the top of the odds board is entering rare territory.

Scottie Scheffler, the 2022 champion, is an overwhelming favorite to win his second Green Jacket at +450 with BetMGM Sportsbook

No other golfers have odds better than 10/1. Only two of Scheffler’s competitors (Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm) are better than 18/1.

Scheffler’s massive favorite status has him in historic company.

Those odds would make Scheffler the biggest pre-Masters favorite since Tiger Woods was a +350 ahead of Round 1 of the 2013 tournament, according to Sports Odds History

Woods, who was +450 or better in every Masters from 2000 to 2013, is the only other golfer to have odds better than Scheffler’s over that period.

After opening as a +900 Masters favorite at BetMGM, Scheffler halved his odds in recent weeks thanks to a red-hot stretch on the course.

Scheffler has won each of the last two PGA tournaments, THE PLAYERS Championship and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

He’s finished top 20 in all seven of his PGA starts this season with top 10 finishes in six of those.

Scheffler has been popular among the betting public, garnering 8.2 percent of tickets and 15.5 percent of the handle at BetMGM. Both figures lead the field.

He is the sportsbook’s second-biggest liability thus far behind Wyndham Clark (+2500).

Before last year’s Masters, Scheffler was a +700 co-favorite alongside McIlroy, although Jon Rahm, who had the third-best odds (+900), ended up with the Green Jacket.

Scheffler finished T-10 in his bid for a second straight Masters win.

In 2022, before his Masters win, Scheffler was +1600 to win the tournament, which was tied for the fourth-best odds in the field with Dustin Johnson.

Woods is listed by BetMGM at 100/1, although it is unclear if he will actually compete.
