Dodgers co-owner owner Todd Boehly appeared to let his nerves get the best of him during the 2024 MLB Seoul Series on Wednesday.
The billionaire businessman appeared to pick his nose and eat it when his team was trailing the San Diego Padres in the eighth inning of Game 1 on Wednesday at the Gocheok SkyDome in South Korea, according to a video that surfaced on social media.
ESPN cameras caught the moment during an at-bat by Dodgers outfielder James Outman — and a nervous-looking Boehly was seen slouched in his seat behind home plate with what appeared to be two fingers in his nostrils.
Boehly owns 20 percent of the Dodgers as part of the Guggenheim Baseball Management group, which bought the team for $1.5 billion in 2012.
He is also the co-controlling owner and chairman of English Premier League soccer team Chelsea F.C.
The Dodgers ultimatley scored four runs that inning to erase a one-run deficit and beat the Padres, 5-2, in the Seoul MLB opener, which marked the start of the Shohei Ohtani era.
The reigning American League MVP reached a 10-year, $700 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers in December after he played the first six seasons of his MLB career with the crosstown Angels.
Ohtani’s two hits, an RBI and a stolen base had the international crowd rocking in Seoul with his wife, basketball player Mamiko Tanaka, in attendance.
Cameras captured the 5-foot-11 Japanese center giving high fives to a few women in nearby seats after one of her husband’s hits.
Ohtani, who will turn 30 on July 5, won’t be available to pitch in 2024 as he recovers from surgery to repair his right UCL in October 2023.
Wednesday was a headline-filled day for the Dodgers as they began the regular season with this brief two-game international set against the Padres.
Earlier in the day, South Korea police received a reported bomb threat via email, which targeted Ohtani, but found no explosives Gocheok SkyDome.
Later that night, the Los Angeles Times published a report which claimed Ohtani’s interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, had perpetrated a “massive theft” of millions of dollars of the star pitcher’s money to place bets with an illegal bookmaker.
The Dodgers promptly fired Mizuhara.
