Rangers manager Bruce Bochy, who won his fourth World Series title in 2023, is MLB’s most underpaid man, at an estimated $4M to $5M, putting him squarely in the second tier of managers.
When I mentioned Bochy’s the game’s most underpaid to Rangers GM Chris Young, who signed Bochy, Young didn’t hesitate. “I agree,’” he said.
Bochy, who was the highest paid at $6M as Giants manager, is unconcerned.

“I got back in because I missed it,” Bochy said. “I wasn’t looking for a big payday. I just wanted to get back in and have a chance to win a championship.”
Bochy characteristically credits his bosses for getting the pitching needed, and especially his players.
“These guys came together. I consider myself blessed,” Bochy said.
The manager has something to do with that. And Bochy is one of the best ever — at a bargain rate, no less.
