Sportsbooks expecting brutal 2024 Giants season

Somewhere between average and mediocre; that’s where the sportsbooks are projecting the 2024 New York Giants.

BetRivers Sportsbook has set the Giants’ win total at 6.5 wins, with bettors smashing the under down to -162.

Including the absurd juice towards the under, the Giants have the fifth-lowest win total expectation in the NFL, according to BetRivers, ahead of only the Panthers, Patriots, Titans and Broncos.

Big Blue comes into this season having let running back Saquon Barkley bounce to the division foe Philadelphia Eagles and also losing star safety Xavier McKinney to the Green Bay Packers.

The Giants will probably not be making much noise come January but sportsbooks aren’t giving terrible odds on the Giants to make the playoffs (+375).

For reference, the Broncos, whose win total projection also comes in at 6.5 (-167 to the under), are +425 to make the playoffs, despite nearly identical odds on their win total projection.

This doesn’t necessarily make sense, though, as the Giants have the second-worst Super Bowl odds in the NFL, a wild number at 150/1 to win it all.

The only team with worse odds on BetRivers is the Bryce Young-led Carolina Panthers (200/1).

It could have something to do with the Giants’ tough division, as BetRivers gives them the worst odds in the division at 10/1 to win the NFC East.

The Washington Commanders, who are selecting No. 2 in the 2024 NFL Draft, even have better odds at +900.

It’s a virtual tie for who will come in first in the NFC East; the Eagles are +120, with last year’s division-winning Cowboys at +125.

Betting on the NFL?

April’s 2024 NFL Draft will tell us plenty about this upcoming season as the Giants look to pull together a young roster that can compete this season.

If not, they could be looking to draft a quarterback around this time next season.
