Caitlin Clark addresses Ice Cube’s $5 million Big3 offer ahead of March Madness Sweet 16

Caitlin Clark is only thinking about Colorado.

Earlier this week, the news broke that Ice Cube’s Big3 was offering the Iowa women’s basketball phenom $5 million to participate in the three-on-three basketball league.

Iowa faces Colorado in the March Madness Sweet 16 on Friday in Albany, and there was media availability on Thursday, where Clark was asked about the offer.

Clark said that it was also news to her, as she said that she learned about it at “the same exact time you all did,” according to TMZ.

She said that she hasn’t discussed the matter with her representatives.

“I honestly don’t talk about those things with really anybody,” Clark continued. “I have other people that deal with it. They haven’t said a word to me about it. And, my main focus is on this team and helping us find a way to beat Colorado and hopefully win another one after that.”

When the news broke earlier this week, Ice Cube quickly confirmed that the reports of the offer were accurate.

He told Pat McAfee that it was “definitely doable” for Clark to participate in both the Big3 and the WNBA, where she is widely expected to go first overall in the upcoming draft to the Indiana Fever.

The top salary in the WNBA is in the low six figures.

Clark is demonstrably a major TV draw, and it’s clear that exposure would benefit the Big3, but unclear if the WNBA would permit her to play in both should that be her wish.

“BIG3 made a historic offer to Caitlin Clark. Why wouldn’t we? Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3,” Ice Cube wrote on X shortly after the offer became public.

“The skeptics laughed when we made Nancy Lieberman the first female coach of a men’s pro team, and she won the championship in her first year. Then Lisa Leslie won it all in year two. With our offer, Caitlin Clark can make history and break down even more barriers for women athletes.”
