Bryce Harper takes nasty spill into Phillies dugout after brutally missing foul ball

This was not Bryce Harper’s finest moment at first base.

The Phillies superstar on Saturday attempted to make an acrobatic catch near his own dugout, and he did pull off quite a tumble — but he came up empty-handed.

With the Braves’ Austin Riley up in the first inning against Philadelphia starter Aaron Nola, the third baseman skied a pop-up into foul territory down the first base side of Citizens Bank Ballpark.

Harper, who has played in the outfield most of his career, attempted to track down the ball near the Phillies dugout but flipped completely over the railing near a camera well, going into the dugout.

As he went tumbling near the bench, though, the ball careened off the protective netting that surrounds the dugout and bounced back into play.

The two-time National League MVP seemed no worse for wear, however, other than losing his hat.

He was helped back up to his feet and returned to action after getting his bearings.

It was eerily reminiscent of his first start at first base for the Phillies last year, though that time, Harper made an incredible leaping grab to take away a foul pop during a road game in Cleveland.

On the offensive side of things, Harper has been held hitless through the first 17 innings this season, recording two walks.

Before the game, though, Harper was involved in a cool moment with recently retired Eagles center Jason Kelce, who threw out the first pitch and then signed Harper’s cleats.

But not even a “tush push” on that foul ball likely would have helped Harper.
