Blue Jackets’ Boone Jenner, wife Maggie mourn their stillborn son

Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner and his wife, Maggie, announced Wednesday in a heartbreaking statement that their son was stillborn.

“We are at a loss for words. A pain like no other. Our son, Dawson Jenner was stillborn on March 31st, 2024,” the Jenners posted on Instagram, a message that was subsequently shared on the Blue Jackets’ social media pages.

“While this pain is like nothing we’ve experienced before, it’s also shown us the immense love we have to give.

The Jenners concluded their message by expressing gratitude for “the outpouring of love and support” they’ve received from loved ones in the wake of the loss.

“We are thankful and feel blessed for the outpouring of love and support from our family and friends. We appreciate everyone respecting our privacy as we navigate this extremely difficult time. Love, the Jenners.”

Jenner wed Maggie last July. Five months later, the couple revealed they were expecting in May 2024.

Members of the NHL community offered messages of support to the Jenners following Wednesday’s tragic news.

“I’m so sorry brother. Love you. Thinking of you and Maggie,” Maple Leafs center Max Domi wrote in the comments of Jenner’s post.

“Love you guys,” Jenner’s teammate, defenseman Zach Werenski, posted.

Jenner has spent his entire NHL career with the Blue Jackets, who selected him 37th overall in the 2011 NHL Draft, and was named the team’s captain in 2021.

The 30-year-old center has been away from the team since March 28, per reports.

The Blue Jackets, currently eighth in the Metropolitan Division at 25-38-12, have seven regular-season games remaining.
