CINCINNATI — Michael Tonkin’s Mets tenure may have lasted three appearances.

The Mets designated the veteran righty for assignment on Friday to create roster space for newly signed Julio Teheran.

Tonkin, a 34-year-old who was among the last to crack the Opening Day roster, allowed eight runs (two earned) in four innings, including a rough, three-run 11th inning that led to the Mets’ loss Thursday afternoon in the front end of a doubleheader.

Teheran joins a needy rotation and could debut as soon as Monday.Â
