Michelin adds 10 NYC restaurants to its 2024 state guide

Michelin accomplished.

While New York City might have been snubbed by “best restaurants” lists recently — namely Yelp‘s and the James Beard Awards — there is one reputable source repping the Big Apple.

The 2024 Michelin Guide recently added 10 Gotham City restaurants, which run the gamut of cuisines from Puerto Rican to Japanese-French fusion and could be up for a Michelin star at the Michelin Awards ceremony this fall.

“Whet your appetite with a sneak peek of the 2024 MICHELIN Guide New York selection featuring ten new additions spread across New York City,” the tire company wrote on its site.

This delicious dectet of inductees, which brings the total number to 300 for the New York Michelin guide, includes the Bangkok Supper Club, a “contemporary” Thai joint in the West Village from the team behind Fish Cheeks.

The menu features trailblazing dishes such as “fiery scallop ceviche with watermelon chili granita” and “deep-fried pork cheeks served sliced over savory garlic-baked rice.”

This year, Michelin is repping the “underground” dining scene with the addition of Nōksu, a 14-seat contemporary Korean eatery located down a staircase in the Herald Square subway station.

These subterranean digs belie the smorgasbord of top-shelf fish and game dreamt up by head chef Dae Dae Kim of Per Se fame.

Their menu features gleamingly fresh seafood dishes from clams to fluke and — somewhat bizarrely (but not problematically) — a Cantonese-style roast squab. Many of the dishes are so delicate that the chefs primed them with tweezers before serving.

Also worth mentioning is Cecily, a wine-centered American hotspot in Greenpoint opened by alums from Estela and The Four Horsemen.

In addition to their expansive and delicious tipple selection, the restaurant features sumptuous dishes like fried rabbit with ramp agrodolce and toast stacked with “mussels and pancetta and served in a knockout Calabrian chili butter,” per the guide.

The 10 new additions are:

  • Bangkok Supper Club
  • Bar Miller
  • Barrio
  • Cecily
  • Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare
  • L’abeille à Côté
  • Moono
  • Nōksu
  • Shota Omakase
  • Untable

This marks the NY guide’s first update since October when they inducted 11 new restaurants into the restaurant bible.

Additions included Agi’s Counter, Monsieur Vo, Superiority Burger, Kingfisher and Torrisi, the latter of which was awarded a Michelin star at the November award bash.

Nōksu is a 14-seat contemporary Korean eatery located down a staircase in the Herald Square subway station.

While the inclusion of these restaurants doesn’t guarantee a Michelin star or Bib Gourmand (essentially a Michelin star for affordability), it does give a sense of where the organization’s inspectors are dining and therefore likely considering for the accolade.

Either way, it might behoove epicures to add these haute restaurants to their NYC bucket list.
