Zach Johnson appears to yell ‘f–k off’ toward fans after horrific, frustrating Masters hole

Zach Johnson had a triple bogey on Friday, but it will go down as his second most memorable moment of the Masters.

The first came after.

Johnson finished par-3 12th role in six shots, and he cursed as fans cheered him as he finally drained the putt.

“F–k off!” he appeared to say as picked up by the feed of his round.

However, when asked about the situation, Johnson denied his expletive was directed toward the spectators.

“That I swore at the patrons? That’s laughable. That’s completely laughable,” he said, according to Golf Digest. “I can’t hear the patrons, number one. Number two, I just made a triple bogey on the 12th hole that evidently is going to make me miss the cut, which at the time I knew was pretty sensitive in the sense that I needed to keep making pars.

“If I’ve said anything, which I’m not going to deny, especially if it’s on camera, one, I apologize, and two, it was fully directed towards myself entirely because I can’t hear anything behind me. Does that make sense?”

The day got worse for the 2023 Team USA Ryder Cup captain, as he did not make the cut at the Masters after finishing at seven strokes over par.

He was 3-over in just the second round.

Johnson, who won the Masters back in 2007, has won two majors overall, with the other victory coming at the Open Championship in 2015.

Johnson finished tied for 34th in last year’s Masters Tournament, and 2024 marks the third time he’s missed the cut over the last four years.

His last top-10 finish came in 2015, where he ended his Masters run tied for ninth place.
