WNBA MVP odds: Caitlin Clark among betting favorites ahead of rookie season

Oddsmakers have high expectations for Caitlin Clark’s rookie season in the WNBA.

After going No. 1 overall to the Indiana Fever during Monday night’s WNBA draft, Clark is being dubbed an early contender for the league MVP award in the 2024 season, which tips off in mid-May.

Clark, who is coming off an AP Player of the Year and national championship runner-up campaign in her final college season, currently holds the fourth-best chances to win the WNBA MVP (+1200), trailing only the Aces’ A’ja Wilson (+160), the Liberty’s Breanna Stewart (+550) and the Sun’s Alyssa Thomas (+1000) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Unsurprisingly, Clark is an overwhelming favorite to win the WNBA Rookie of the Year award, sitting at -600 at FanDuel, beating out Cameron Brink (+1500) and Kamilla Cardoso (+1900)

She is looking to join Candace Parker as the only players in WNBA history to win the Rookie of the Year and MVP award in the same season.

Despite finishing 13-27 last season, Clark has boosted the Indiana Fever to fringe WNBA Finals contender status

The Fever enter the 2024 season at 33/1 on FanDuel to win the title, which is up from 110/1 a year ago.

Indiana now has the seventh-best odds to win the trophy, behind the Aces, Liberty, Storm, Sun, Wings and Mercury.

The betting favorite Aces (+100) are the reigning back-to-back champions, just beating out the Liberty (+230), who fell to Las Vegas in the WNBA Finals in October.

After falling short in each of the last three seasons, Indiana is now a heavy favorite to make the playoffs (-260) thanks to the addition of Clark.

The Fever preseason over/under total at FanDuel is currently pegged at 21.5 wins, which is the fifth-highest total in the league.
