Here’s how to see Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky for cheap

In the 1980s, the NBA had the Lakers-Celtics rivalry.

Now, the WNBA has the Fever-Sky.

How did we get here?

On April 15, the Indiana Fever drafted Caitlin Clark with the first pick in the draft. Immediately after, the Chicago Sky selected Kamilla Cardoso, whose South Carolina Gamecocks bested Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes in the NCAA Women’s Championship the week before.

To add insult to injury, the Sky chose Angel Reese at number seven.

For those who don’t remember, the 21-year-old forward is well-known for having led the LSU Tigers over Clark’s Hawkeyes in the 2023 NCAA Championship.

The two Clark stoppers join a formidable squad led by guards Dana Evans, Marina Mabrey and recently reacquired fan favorite Diamond DeShields.

As a result, what was originally supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Sky and new coach Theresa Weatherspoon — who happens to be a WNBA legend herself — now looks quite promising.

Best of all, you can be there to root for the team (along with famous fan Chance The Rapper and co-owner Dwyane Wade) for cheap this season.

At the time of publication, we found tickets for home games at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena going for as low as $18 before fees on Vivid Seats.

As you may expect, tickets for the Sky-Fever matchups will be quite a bit pricier starting at $202 before fees.

About the Chicago Sky

We spoke to WNBA expert, Chicago Sky fan, and “Flagrant Pod” host Ciara Smith to tell all about the team that won it all in 2021.

“It’s a weird year for the Sky,” she told us. “We traded away our best player Kahleah Copper this offseason but we got back one of our former players Diamond DeShields. After Copper left everyone was expecting this to be a terrible rebuild year but the hope is back again with the new draft picks.”

“The team is entirely different from the championship squad with the exception of Evans and DeShields.”

She also dished out an inside scoop on how the Sky — who just unveiled new uniforms — scored two of the NCAA’s biggest stars.

“Originally, the Sky didn’t have any picks in this draft (we traded them all away very controversially) so we had to make more trades to get picks back to draft Cardoso and Reese.”

After all is said and done, Smith is optimistic about 2024.

“This will be a new-look Sky this year, a small small number of returning players, we’re gonna be gritty on defense which is what the Sky are always known for. Should be a fun season!”
