Jets 2024 NFL Draft tracker: Round-by-round picks and analysis

The Jets traded back — but their first-round pick was still all about Aaron Rodgers.

Gang Green sent picks No. 10 and No. 203 to Minnesota allowing the Vikings to pick QB J.J. McCarthy — and getting back the No. 11 pick and fourth- and fifth-round selections.

They used the No. 11 pick on Penn State’s Olu Fashanu, an offensive tackle who will be tasked with helping keep Rodgers upright.

Gang Green will also have to fill a void at safety and could opt to add depth at linebacker.

GM Joe Douglas now has eight picks on his ledger and the opportunity to fix the problems that continue to plague his squad.

Here is the full list of picks the Jets have at the 2024 NFL Draft:

Round 1, pick 11 (No. 11 overall) — via MIN

Olu Fashanu, OT, Penn State

The Jets went with more protection for Aaron Rodgers over a playmaker. After trading back one spot with the Vikings, the Jets took Fashanu, who did not allow a sack in his college career.

Fashanu will have to sit behind Tyron Smith for a year but he is the left tackle of the future for the Jets.

Fashanu gives the Jets some depth along the offensive line in 2024 after the team acquired Smith and Morgan Moses, who are both 33, at tackle.

Round 3, Pick 1 (No. 65 overall) — via CAR

Malachai Corley, WR, Western Kentucky

A night after adding protection for Aaron Rodgers, the Jets picked up a playmaker. The Jets drafted Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley after trading up to the first pick in the third round on Friday night in Detroit.

Corley was a slot receiver in college and likely will be for the Jets. The 5-foot-10, 207-pounder had 259 receptions for 3,033 yards and 29 touchdowns for the Hilltoppers.

The Jets moved up from pick No. 72 to No. 65, the first pick in the third round, in a trade with the Panthers to get Corley. The Jets traded pick 157 in the fifth round along with No. 72 to Carolina in exchange for the 65th pick.

Corley joins a wide receiver room led by Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams but lacking a solid No. 3 option. He is potentially that player now.

Round 4, Pick 34 (No. 134 overall) — Compensatory via BAL

Braelon Allen, RB, Wisconsin

After trading down three times in the fourth round, the Jets finally made a pick, taking running back Braelon Allen out of Wisconsin.

Allen was a three-year starter for the Badgers and recorded 3,494 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns during his time there – which put him ninth all-time in rushing yards for Wisconsin.

The pick gives the Jets a back who is a power runner and could be the team’s No. 2 running back behind Breece Hall.

Round 5, Pick 9 (No. 171 overall) — via PHI

Jordan Travis, QB, Florida State

The Jets have added a quarterback to their stable, taking Florida State QB Jordan Travis with the No. 171 overall pick — which they traded up to get.

Travis was in the midst of a stellar season for the Seminals when he suffered a gruesome leg injury against North Alabama that ended his collegiate football career and played a big role in Florida State missing out on the College Football Playoffs.

“It was pretty nerve-wracking, man, just going through watching, seeing a lot of the guys that I know get drafted and it coming down to the very last pick,” Key said.

Key said he will embrace the “Mr. Irrelevant” title and all that comes with it.

“It means everything,” Key said. “You’ve got to take it and lean into it. For me, I’m definitely going to lean into it, every bit of it. I’m the Mr. Irrelevant this year and we’re going to make something shake, for sure.”
