There may not have been another person inside Ball Arena more excited for the Timberwolves series-clinching win than Alex Rodriguez.
Multiple shots of A-Rod, a minority owner of the team, during the TNT broadcast showed just how ecstatic the former MLB star was for the Timberwolves to advance to the Western Conference Finals with a 98-90 win over the defending NBA champion Nuggets on Sunday.
As part of the shots of the celebrating Timberwolves, the camera cut to Rodriguez, who had been courtside, emphatically enjoying the win.
“Let’s f–king go,” he appeared to say while celebrating the win.
Rodriguez was later seen enjoying the victory with Minnesota star Anthony Edwards on the court, even showing off a custom handshake the two have.
There was plenty to celebrate as the T-Wolves toppled the defending NBA champs with a comeback win in the second half.
Edwards had 16 points when the game was over after putting up just four in the first half on Sunday night.
“There’s more ways to win the basketball game when you’re just not an offensive player,” Edwards told reporters, per The Associated Press. “I’m not one-dimensional. I’m not just a guy who can score. I’m a guy who — whoever their best guard is, I can go lock him down. I feel like I did that on Jamal [Murray] in the fourth quarter — in the third quarter and fourth quarter — and that’s what turned the game around.”
Rodriguez has been present for the Timberwolves during the postseason, even amid a legal battle between the former major leaguer and his partner Marc Lore and current Minnesota owner Glen Taylor regarding an agreement announced in 2021 for Lore and Rodriguez to purchase the team.
During an interview with Sportico in March, Lore told Sporticoo that it was “ just a matter of time, and how much pain Glen wants to put the fans, the players, the town and community through.”
Lore added: “It didn’t have to be this way.”
