The Mets’ game of hot potato with Yohan Ramirez continued on Monday.
The righty reliever has now been traded twice by the Mets this season, this time being sent to the Dodgers in exchange for cash, the Mets announced.
The Mets previously traded Ramirez to the Orioles before claiming him off waivers.
Ramirez, 29, is just an ordinary arm and the Mets are treating him as such.
He made the Opening Day roster due to an injury to Sean Reid-Foley and appeared in three games, posting an 11.81 ERA spanning 5 1/3 innings.
The Mets designateded him for assignment on April 8, two days after he allowed five runs in two innings in a road loss to the Reds.
They then traded him to the Orioles on April 11 for cash.
Ramirez made five appearances for the Orioles and posted a 6.00 ERA spanning six innings before being designated for assignment.
The Mets then claimed Ramirez to bring him back to the organization, and he threw three scoreless innings combining two appearances against the Braves and Phillies.
Ramirez has actually not allowed an earned run over his last four outings spanning 5 1/3 innings, lowering his season ERA to 6.91.
But those scoreless outings couldn’t prevent him being designed for assignment for the third time on May 15, and now he’s headed west to join the NL West-leading Dodgers.
Ramirez has struck out 17 batters spanning 14 1/3 innings this year and only allowed one homer, but his six walks stick out.
His 3.57 FIP (fielding independent percentage) suggests he’s been unlucky this season.
Following a disappointing series in Miami, the Mets (21-25) open a three-game set Monday night in Cleveland with Tylor Megill returning from the injured list to make his second start of the year.
Megill tossed four innings in his lone start, allowing two runs (one earned) in four innings in a loss to Milwaukee.
