Carjacker steals LAPD vehicle with cop still inside, then drags her down road before crashing

A carjacker stole a Los Angeles police SUV with a female cop still inside — before speeding off and crashing it just after the female officer was “ejected” and dragged down the road, according to officials.

The unidentified officer was conducting “security detail” in downtown LA at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday when the man suddenly jumped into the squad car and attacked her, NBC LA reported.

The cop was “ejected” from the vehicle at some point and fell onto the road as the suspect fled, police said.

It was unclear if the officer was pushed, but she was dragged down the road, suffering non-life-threatening injuries, police told KABC.

The alleged perp then plowed into multiple other cars and scooters before crashing into a pole.

Footage from the scene showed debris strewn across the sidewalk and road in the aftermath of the incident.

“My thought was, ‘Why is this patrol car doing about 60 to 70 mph, flying with no lights?” witness Tracy Lee told NBC LA.

The man had allegedly tried to flee the wreckage on foot but was nabbed a short time later, cops said.

He hasn’t been identified publicly and police haven’t disclosed what charges he could be facing.

At least two others were also hurt in the chaos, though not seriously, police added. They and the female officer were all taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
