Former Obama speechwriter, ‘Pod Save America’ host Jon Lovett to appear on 47th season of ‘Survivor’

A former speechwriter in the Obama White House is fleeing into the wilderness — to compete in the upcoming season of “Survivor.”

Jon Lovett, who is one of the hosts of the liberal “Pod Save America” podcast, is set to be on the 47th season of the CBS competition series.

His appearance on the long running show was confirmed Thursday with the release of the “Survivor” trailer.

“I have no outdoor skills,” Lovett, also co-founder of Crooked Media, admitted in front of the camera. “What am I doing here? I went camping as a cub scout. I threw up and went home.”

Former Obama White House colleague Jon Favreau acknowledged his buddy will appear on the hit show in a tongue-in-cheek tweet.

“What did I tell you?” he posted. “Eat Pray Lovett.”

Favreau and fellow podcast host Dan Pfeiffer also joked about how Lovett, 41, might fare during his trip into the jungle.

“I would just say many people have argued that in a critical election year where democracy hangs in the balance the best place for Lovett would be on an island with no access to the internet,” Pfeiffer said in a clip shared of an upcoming new podcast episode.

“I’m sure he is busy doing some deep canvassing,” Favreau replied. “No doubt every other contestant is from a swing state.”

“Just out there trying to get every vote,” he continued. “Sure, for the tribal council, but also for Joe Biden.”

Taping for the “Survivor” is happening between early May and early July, the show said on its website.

The show is scheduled to be televised in the fall, though an exact date hasn’t been determined.
