Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson are 1-0 regarding matchmaking.
The Fox Sports personalities leaned into the buzz that they are responsible for setting up Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift during a joint appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday.
“Yes Jimmy, we are responsible,” Thompson quipped when Fallon asked, “You guys predicted Kelce and Taylor?”
The group shared a laugh, with Thompson adding, “You’re welcome, America.”
Fallon was referring to when Andrews and Thompson, who are friends with Kelce, encouraged Swift to date the Chiefs tight end — with Andrews saying at the time, “Hey Taylor, date Travis Kelce! He’s so fabulous! Do it for America!”
It came shortly after Kelce explained on his “New Heights” podcast that he tried to meet Swift and give her a friendship bracelet when he attended her concert last July, but his plan didn’t work out.
Fallon joked during his Thursday night show that the world really needs to thank Andrews and Thompson.
“That was you who did that, thank you,” Fallon said while clapping. “As a country, we’re thanking our servicemen and women, but we really have to thank you for what you’ve done for all of us. You brought us Taylor and Travis, oh my God.”
Kelce then praised Andrews and Thompson in a comment he left under a video of the pair “The Tonight Show” posted on Instagram.
“For America!!🇺🇸 😂😂,” Kelce wrote. “Charissa and Erin are the best! 🙌🏻🙌🏻.”
Andrews and Thompson talked about potentially getting into the matchmaking business — and joked that their track record is 1-0 — on their “Calm Down” podcast earlier this week.
Fallon went on to ask the pair how they went about shipping the couple.
“Yeah, well, obviously we’ve covered him and we’re friends with him,” Andrews said. “And how could you not be? The guy’s a time, right? I’ve seen you guys on a golf course and everything. He’s a time.
“He had mentioned on his podcast that he went to the show, wanted to meet her afterwards, didn’t get the chance to. So we just started talking about it on our podcast saying, ‘Taylor, do this for America. Date him.’ I mean, the guy, he’s not ugly by any means.”
Andrews then brought up how Kelce did a skit during his appearance on “Saturday Night Live” in March 2023, when he “lifted up other girls so they could get the feeling of what it was like to date a big strong man.”
“So we’re like, ‘Taylor, go!” she said.
Thompson went on to explain that she and Andrews “were advocating early on” for Swift and Kelce, who “was very sweet and he commented and he was like, ‘I owe you guys big time,’ so then, of course, everyone gives us credit.
“We, you know, we’ll take the credit. But I just love both of them and I’m so happy to see them happy.”
Their appearance on “The Tonight Show” came one day after Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes explained why he is the matchmaker behind Kelce and Swift’s whirlwind romance.
“I like to take some of the credit,” Mahomes said during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” while he was at OTAs. “I was the one who invited Travis to the first Taylor concert when the friendship bracelet [idea came up]. He was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker.
“I had some input in there as well. I was like, ‘Dude, you should go for it. Just go for it.’ And you know Travis, man. He does it. He’s a great dude. I’m glad that it’s all worked out for the best.”
Kelce and Swift are fairly private about their relationship, which they confirmed when they stepped out holding hands together while in New York City last October.
It’s unclear exactly when or how the couple met.
The 14-time Grammy winner said in her TIME “Person of the Year” interview that she and Kelce were already a couple when she attended her first Chiefs game publicly when Kansas City beat the Bears at Arrowhead in September 2023.
Kelce is currently traveling the world with Swift, who’s performing the international leg of her blockbuster Eras Tour.
