Ex-Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew was arrested on Sunday morning after he punched a glass door, breaking it, in a Texas convenience store, TMZ Sports reported on Tuesday.
Pettigrew, 39, was at a 7-Eleven in Dallas around 2 a.m. when he started to get into a heated argument with local police inside the store that led to the lash out.
However, it’s unknown what sparked the altercation nor wthat caused Pettigrew to throw the punch.
A surveillance video shows Pettigrew and a group of people talking before the former professional footballer threw a right hook punch at the front door of the 7-Eleven.
After the punch, the officers took out their tasers, pointing them at Pettigrew. However, the incident simmered down as Pettigrew put his hands up and the authorities proceeded to handcuff him.
According to a representative of the Dallas Police Department, Pettigrew was transported to the Dallas County Jail and was booked on a criminal mischief charge.
He has since been released as of 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Pettigrew has previously ran into trouble with the law in 2017 when he was arrested over alleged involvement in an incident at a bar.
Additionally, he was arrested in 2018 after he was accused of hitting an officer over an argument aboiut unpaid limousine bill.
Pettigrew spent seven seasons in the NFL after he was a first-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State.
He was with Detroit for his entire career where he recorded 2,965 yards for 17 touchdowns across 301 receptions.
