Yankees vs. Twins prediction: MLB odds, picks, bets for Wednesday

Chris Paddack returned to the Twins’ starting rotation after Tommy John surgery at the end of 2023 with some uncertainty around his longevity.

This year, we’ve seen some occasional pebbly outings, including allowing a pair of home runs in his last start against the Royals — his fifth consecutive start having surrendered a home run.

One of those games was his 5-1 defeat to the Yankees, who knocked Paddack around for 12 hits and five earned runs in five innings.

Even though Paddack has provided relatively consistent pitching for Minnesota since his comeback, he’s wrestled with keeping men off base, owning a 1.38 WHIP.

He’s pitching much deeper into games than expected and his velocity has taken drops across his arsenal over the past few starts.

Carlos Rodón carries the torch in a Yankees rotation that is nothing short of exceptional inside Yankee Stadium; the left hander owns a 2.13 ERA and a 3-0 record when sporting the pinstripes.

Rodón opposed Paddack in the May 14 meeting and delivered six strikeouts in six innings.

Both pitchers are heavy on the fastball, but Rodón is hurling his more than two miles per hour harder than Paddack and with more control.

Neither of them are gaining high volumes of strikeouts, but Rodón’s robust profile offers more stability.

Paddack must contend with a heady Yankees lineup that’s surmounting the league in quality of contact metrics.
