Conor McGregor gives UFC 303 hope with new Instagram training video

Fight on?

Days after a pre-fight press conference between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler was abruptly canceled with just 12 hours’ notice, the Irishman posted a 10-slide training video in preparation for the scheduled June 29 showdown at UFC 303.

McGregor is set to return to the Octagon for the first time in three years after suffering a broken leg in a lost to Dustin Poirier in 2021.

Fans’ anticipation turned to nervousness with the press conference being canceled and the lack of an explanation that has followed.

“In consultation with the UFC, (the) press conference was cancelled due to a series of obstacles outside of our control,” McGregor wrote on X.

“I apologize to my Irish fans, and fans around the world, for the inconvenience and appreciate all your passion and support. I can’t wait to put on the greatest all-time show in the Octagon.”

No legal issues or incidents led to the cancelation, according to MMA insider Ariel Helwani, which prompted further questioning about McGregor’s health.

The videos appear to highlight multiple workout sessions, thought it is unclear when they took place.

The caption consisted of two emojis: a goat and praying hands.

While McGregor’s commitment has been questioned as he is frequently seen out partying, he has never bailed on a UFC fight that he is committed to.

Helwani also addressed where the fight stands on his show, “The MMA Hour.”

“The fight’s still on. As of right this minute, the fight’s still on,” Helwani said.

McGregor’s Instagram post to his 47.6 million followers should only add more optimism to the notion the fight will go on as scheduled.
