Travis Kelce opens up about Chiefs retirement speculation

Travis Kelce has a lot of miles on his NFL odometer but he’s not ready to set a date on when his career may conclude.

At Chiefs minicamp Tuesday, Kelce was asked if he knows when he will retire.

“I really can’t put a timeframe on it,” Kelce told reporters.

“I love coming to work every single day. Obviously, I know there’s opportunities outside of football for me. I think you’ve gotta keep in perspective that I’m a little kid when I come in this building.

“I’m gonna do it until the wheels fall off. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen anytime soon. I can definitely understand that it’s toward the end of the road than the beginning of it. I just gotta make sure I’m set up for after football as well.”

Kelce, 34, saw his production fall a bit last regular season from the lofty standards he has set in his career.

He caught 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games, down from 110 catches for 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns in 17 games in an All-Pro 2022 season.

However, he stepped his game up in the postseason, making 32 catches for 355 yards and three touchdowns in four Chiefs playoff games.

The Chiefs won their second consecutive Super Bowl, and third in four years, as he recorded nine catches in the overtime victory.

Kelce is facing these questions partially due to his age, but also because of how busy he has been off the field, in dating Taylor Swift, co-hosting the popular “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Jason, and being a ubiquitous pitchman.

Jason retired this offseason after 13 seasons as a center with the Eagles.
