US Open 2024 odds: Tiger Woods a long-shot at Pinehurst

Oddsmakers are giving Tiger Woods little shot in this weekend’s U.S. Open.

Woods is 400/1 to win his 16th major tournament at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, which is tied for the 72nd-best odds in the 156-player field at FanDuel Sportsbook.

He’s even a bit of a long-shot to make the cut, with DraftKings Sportsbook pegging him at +220 to play the weekend.

Woods, 48, is also 16/1 to finish in the top 10, +600 to finish in the top 20, and 35/1 to finish in the top five of the tournament at DraftKings.

He will play in just his fourth tournament of the year as he manages his surgically repaired leg and back.

In February, Woods withdrew from his own event, the Genesis Invitational. At the Masters, Woods finished in 60th place – his only made cut of the year. And last month at the PGA Championship, Woods failed to make the weekend, finishing well above the cut line.

Injuries have also prevented Woods from playing the U.S. Open, a tournament he’s won three times, in recent years.

He’ll be appearing in his first U.S. Open since missing the cut at Winged Foot Golf Club in 2020.

Even after his recent struggles, Woods is confident heading into his early Thursday tee time at Pinehurst No. 2, which has a flat layout and hot weather that the golf legend welcomes.

“It’s like home,” Woods said, referring to his home in South Florida. “Hot and humid is what we deal with every single day at home in Florida, so that’s nothing new. I would rather play in hot, humid conditions any day than anything cold. I think pretty much anyone my age will definitely like it a little hotter.”

Woods has twice played a U.S. Open at Pinehurst, finishing as the runner-up in 2005 and tied for third in 1999.

He missed the last U.S. Open at Pinehurst in 2014 with a back injury.
