NY teen died after freak e-bike accident catapulted him from 5-story train station garage: officials

A Westchester County eighth grader who was killed in a fall from a five-story parking garage had been catapulted from his e-bike in a freak crash, officials revealed Tuesday.

Mark Anthony Giordano, 13, was riding bikes with a group of five friends on top of a garage for the Harrison Metro-North station on Halstead Avenue at about 5:45 p.m. on Sunday when he plunged over the side of the building, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said Tuesday.

His body was found on the ground nearby, the statement said. First responders rushed him to White Plains Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

No other kids were injured, the MTA said, and authorities don’t suspect foul play.

But the agency is still looking into the incident.

“The MTA will review the results of the investigation when they are available,” MTA spokesperson Aaron Donovan wrote.

It is believed the children had been doing stunts with e-bikes on the top floor of the parking garage when the middle schooler’s bike hit a wall and flipped, tossing him off the roof, sources told The Post.

Mark, was a student-athlete at Louis M. Klein Middle School in the suburban town who competed in both wrestling and football.

“He will be missed for the gentle soul and dedicated friend he was to all who he came in contact with in just a short time here,” wrote Frank Barchella, who organized an online fundraiser for the boy’s bereaved family.

“Our goal is to assist his family to put Mark to rest and whatever expenses they will encounter in their time of need.”

The GoFundMe page has raised more than $119,000 since its launch.

The Harrison Central School District has offered help and support for students, teachers and parents who might need it.
