Rory McIlroy still not wearing wedding ring at US Open after scrapping Erica Stoll divorce

Rory McIlroy may have called off his divorce, but his wedding band remains conspicuously absent.

The Northern Irishman, 35, was spotted without his ring Wednesday while practicing at the 2024 U.S. Open, one day after scrapping his divorce from wife Erica Stoll.

McIlroy, who filed a notice of voluntary dismissal in Palm Beach, Fla. on Tuesday, still had his wedding ring on when he won the Wells Fargo Championship on May 12, and on May 15 was spotted without his ring at the PGA Championship, two days after filing for divorce.

The filing was also closed out, according to a court document viewed by The Post.

“Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning,” McIlroy told The Guardian in a statement.

McIlroy wed Stoll in 2017. They share one daughter, 3-year-old Poppy.

The four-time major winner is chasing his fifth championship and second U.S. Open victory this week at Pinehurst No. 2.

He won the tournament in 2011 at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.

News of McIlroy’s divorce broke days before the start of the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.

McIlroy was seen without his wedding band during a practice round and finished the tournament tied for 12th after shooting a 12-under par.

In the wake of his stunning separation from Stoll, rumors swirled regarding the nature of his relationship with CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis.

US Weekly confirmed last month the two are “not dating and only have a professional relationship.”

McIlroy addressed the “rumors” when speaking to The Guardian this week, stating in part, “Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game.”

He will tee off in Thursday’s opening round shortly after 1 p.m. with Scottie Scheffler and the reigning PGA Championship winner, Xander Schauffele.

McIlroy, currently ranked third in the world, said Tuesday he is “more confident than ever” his fifth major win is coming.

“I’m really proud of my body of work over the past 15 years and everything that I have achieved, whether it be season-long titles or individual tournaments or majors,” he said in a press conference, per ESPN.

“I’m more confident than ever that I’m right there, that I’m as close as I’ve ever been.”

The 2024 U.S. Open runs from June 13-16.
