Why the Jets may face an internal blocker to the success of the offensive line

Any discussion of the 2024 Jets usually begins with, “If Aaron Rodgers can stay healthy.”

Making that happen will require a strong effort from the offensive line group along with some luck. And one of the men with a principal role in that is offensive line coach Keith Carter.

Carter, 41, replaced John Benton last season as the team’s O-line coach. He oversaw a unit that was plagued by injuries and required 13 different starting lineups. After the season, he drew fire on social media from Taylor Lewan, the longtime Titans tackle who played for Carter in Tennessee.

There was plenty of grumbling from Jets linemen and those around them about Carter’s style. He is an old-school coach who screams at players and believes in tough love. That does not always fly with today’s players, and Carter quickly became unpopular with his unit.
