Hezbollah barrages Israel with missiles after senior commander’s death

Hezbollah fired a large barrage of rockets at Israel on Wednesday, the biggest of its kind, in relation to an airstrike that killed a senior terrorist commander, officials said.

The Iran-backed terror group fired more than 100 rockets at northern Israel a day after an IDF airstrike killed Hezbollah senior field commander Taleb Abdallah, security sources said.

While several of the missiles were intercepted, others struck various locations across northern Israel, causing fires, according to the Israeli military.

Abdallah, also known as Abu Taleb, was in the Lebanese village of Jouaiyya when the airstrike killed him, along with two other Hezbollah operatives.

He allegedly served as Hezbollah’s top commander for the central region of the southern border strip, with his funeral scheduled for Wednesday.

Abdallah is the most senior Hezbollah commander killed during the eight months of near-daily battles between the terror group and Israel, the sources in Lebanon added.

He was the senior to Wissam Tawil, a high-ranking Hezbollah commander who was killed in another Israeli airstrike in Lebanon, according to the security sources.

The Israeli military did not comment on Abdallah’s death.

Following the Hezbollah official’s demise, the IDF said it detected up to 90 rockets being fired from southern Lebanon into the Golan Heights.

Israeli jets, however, were able to hit numerous launch sites in southern Lebanon that were targeting the Jewish state, the IDF added.

Hezbollah claimed that it launched at least five attacks against Israel, including one aimed at an Israeli military factory, in response to what it called an assassination in Jouaiyya.

The group also claimed to have attacked Israel’s military headquarters in Ein Zeitim and Ami’ad, as well as an Israeli military air surveillance station in Meron.

The ongoing skirmishes between Hezbollah and the IDF has led tens of thousands to evacuate northern Israel and southern Lebanon.

Attacks from the terror group have killed 18 Israeli soldiers and 10 civilians, according to the IDF.

The Israeli military estimates that it has killed more than 320 Hezbollah members since Oct. 7.
