‘General Hospital’ speaks out after star Tabyana Ali is attacked by racist trolls

“General Hospital” has strongly condemned the racism that star Tabyana Ali is facing online.

The ABC soap opera released a statement on Tuesday to support Ali, 22, who spoke out earlier this month against social media trolls who have attacked her for being black.

“General Hospital does not tolerate hatred or bigotry of any kind,” the statement began.

“Racism has no place in Port Charles. #GH is for everyone,” the show added.

The comments on the post were turned off.

Ali responded to the show’s message on X. “I appreciate you so much ABC/GH,” she wrote.

On June 9, Ali — who has played Trina Robinson on the show since 2022 — addressed what surfaced online.

“To anyone that hates me. That’s absolutely fine,” the actress wrote on X.

“I don’t know you and you don’t me but regardless I’m sending you peace, safety, and prosperity… I also pray you touch some grass, see the sun, eat a delicious meal, and find something to do,” she continued.

Ali addressed the trolls online.

In a second tweet, the “Horror Noire” star wrote, “Okay this is the last time I’m going to speak on this today but we cannot be feeding in to peoples hate. We cannot be giving it back. We cannot stoop to rude/racist people’s level. It doesn’t help. We are fighting too many wars as it is. I believe we will have our world peace. But we got to find another way to fight.”

“I’ve realized ignoring doesn’t help but neither does giving the energy back,” she added. “We’re going in circles and that doesn’t get us anywhere. Everybody might not agree with me but thats okay. I just want to let ‘those’ people know, I see you. And Im sorry that this is the away you feel like you have to be seen. I’m sorry that life isn’t happening how you want. But if you found something you loved to do other than hurting people. You would never have the energy to say what you’ve been saying to people ONLINE!”

Ali’s final tweet on the matter read, “I promise life is more beautiful and peaceful and full when you give people and yourself LOVE. I pray you don’t meet God and find yourself disappointed when he shows you the life you could’ve had, if all you had to do was stop giving out that type of energy and just went OUTSIDE!”

Some of Ali’s cast members defended her on social media, including Maura West, who plays Ava Jerome.

“I love you, Tabyana. I admire your strength and loving, open heart. You are a shining example of the best of humanity,” West, 52, wrote on X.

Nancy Lee Grahn, who plays Alexis Davis, said on the platform, “You hide behind a profile pix & spew hatred & racism at Tabyana, you spew it at every cast member of General Hospital & we condemn & reject it. We stand by our friend & colleague in her dignified & gracious response. There’s no place 4 racism of any kind in r beloved GH community.”

Last month, Ali talked about her hopes for her “General Hospital” character in an interview with Soap Opera Digest.

“I want her to just be…just cool, to have another side of her,” the actress said. “I think she’s such a kind person. I would like her to have a vendetta story or a revenge story.”
