Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese send well wishes to Cameron Brink after ‘devastating’ ACL injury
WNBA star rookies Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark reacted to the devastating news that fellow rookie Cameron Brink’s season was likely over.
The Sparks’ 22-year-old star suffered a torn ACL on Tuesday in Los Angeles’ loss to the Sun, ending what had been a promising start to her first professional season.
The team officially announced the injury on Wednesday and said it would provide an official update at a later date, though the tear means her season is almost surely done, prompting Reese to post her well wishes in a story post on Instagram.

“I pray God wraps his hands around you & heals yu back even better! Love you my Barbie Doll,” Reese posted along with a photo of the two at the WNBA draft in April.
Brink was averaging 8.1 points 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks going into Tuesday’s game when she suffered the injury less than four minutes into the contest.
She had to be helped to the sideline, and once there, had to be carried to the Sparks’ locker room.
Clark offered her best when speaking about the injury Wednesday.
“Obviously devastating. You never want to see anybody deal with any sort of injury, obviously an injury of that magnitude,” Clark said before scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in the Fever’s 88-81 win over Mystics, their third in a row.
“I know she’s the type of person that will be able to get through it and come out through it stronger. Just breaks your heart,” Clark said. ” She’s such a good basketball player, but an even better person. … She was obviously having a great start to her rookie season and then seeing something obviously so devastating like this, but I know she’ll come back stronger.
“I know so many people are thinking of her and praying for her and I’m sure she’s overwhelmed by the support right now. Knowing the type of person she is, this will only make her better in the long run.”
The injury not only ends Brink’s WNBA season but her Olympic dreams as well.
The injury will force her to miss the 3×3 basketball competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
