Trevor Lawrence, wife Marissa celebrate NFL record Jaguars extension

It was extension day in Duval County on Thursday.

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence signed his five-year, $275 million contract extension with Jacksonville with his wife, Marissa by his side, as seen in a video the team shared on social media.

Taking to her Instagram Story, the event planner posted a photo of the couple smiling while at the Jaguars facility.

“Cheers to the years,” Marissa wrote, adding a jaguar emoji.

In another video, the couple was all smiles while entering the facility together.

“Feeling good,” the 24-year-old Lawrence said in the clip. “Excited to get this thing signed, and shoot — go into camp the right way.

“We’re happy to be here in Jacksonville, Man, this is kinda a surreal feeing still. So excited to get this thing signed and done.”

The Jaguars shared a photo of the couple at EverBank Stadium in 2021, when they selected Lawrence out of Clemson with the No. 1 pick in that year’s NFL Draft.

The post also included a snap of the quarterback holding a pen and his wife sitting next to him with his new contract on the table.

“Then and now,” the Jaguars wrote.

The couple, who are high school sweethearts, celebrated their third wedding anniversary in April.

They tied the knot in 2021, just days before the NFL draft.

The $275 million extension makes Lawrence, set to enter his fourth pro season, one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league — tying him with Joe Burrow for the highest average annual value (AAV) in NFL history at $55 million per season.

His new deal includes $200 million guaranteed with $142 million at signing, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

It’s the third-largest amount of fully guaranteed money in NFL history.

Lawrence — who attended Jaguars OTAs in Jacksonville earlier this month — explained that both sides wanted to get a deal done before training camp so they can focus on bringing a championship to Jacksonville.

“It does feel good to have it done,” Lawrence said, per ESPN. “That was a goal that [the Jaguars] and myself and my team wanted to get done is to have it finished by the time training camp came around so we could just put everything towards this year and getting ready to go bring a championship here.”
