‘Damn, he’s shot in the head!’: Fired-up firefighter recalls wild moment he saved injured man at pool party

A shirtless off-duty firefighter gave a riveting account of the moment he saved a guy shot in the head at a Maryland pool party Wednesday night.

The dynamic good Samaritan – who only identified himself as a firefighter from Berkeley County, West Virginia – told ABC7 that he was busy talking to women at a pool party at a Glenn Dale home when he saw a huge crowd of partygoers suddenly fleeing the scene.

“So then I start going over where they’re running in case someone’s shooting or something,” said the tattooed witness.

“Then I seen somebody, I thought it was a zombie, like he started crawling through,” he said of the injured man.

“I get on down and apply pressure to his arm. They said he was shot in the head,” the firefighter added. “So I’m like, ‘Damn he’s shot in the head! Whoa!'”

Although shocked over the bloodied scene he found himself in, the adrenaline-fueled man said he stayed with the victim until first responders arrived.

“I kept talking to him, I was like, ‘Yo, stay with me, stay with me,'” the witness recalled. “Told him to grab my hand and squeeze it until he can’t no more.”

After sharing his story with reporters at the scene, the firefighter added that it would be the last time he parties in Glenn Dale.

“Too many people come out here doing crazy stuff,” he said.

Another witness claimed that there was a big fight at the party before the shooting that triggered several other brawls until the conflict reached a boiling point, WUSA 9 reported.

Neighbors told the local outlet that they heard about 10 gunshots fired.

“Within 30 seconds, there was a round of shots like ‘pop, pop, pop, pop, pop’ and you seen him running across and you could see he was bloodied,” Reynold Walbrook told WUSA 9.

Prince George’s County Police said they got a call about the shooting at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, but have yet to release any updates on any suspects.

Officials, however, said that the victim was expected to survive.
