Inside Chiefs’ Super Bowl hero Mecole Hardman’s engagement to longtime girlfriend

It’s ring season for Mecole Hardman.

The Chiefs’ wide receiver, who scored the game-winning touchdown in the Super Bowl 58 win over the 49ers in February, got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Chariah Gordon, according to a joint post the couple shared Thursday on Instagram.

“Say hello to the Future Mr. & Mrs. Hardman 👰🏽‍♀️🤵🏽‍♂️💍,” the couple wrote, including a video of Hardman’s proposal, which featured a massive diamond ring.

Hardman, 26, surprised Gordon after three years of dating when he got down on one knee in front of their friends and family, including their three-year-old son, Mecole Hardman III.

The room, which appeared to be a private venue with a bar, was decorated with light-up letters that read: “Will You Marry Me?” White rose petals were spread across the floor.

Gordon, who owns a skincare company, was she was serenaded by musician Jon B, who played the piano while performing the song “I Do” when she arrived.

Then, Hardman got down on one knee.

“Yes!” she yelled, accepting the three-time Super Bowl champ’s hand in marriage.

Their loved ones celebrated as they sealed their engagement with a kiss.

“Issa fiancée,” Gordon wrote on her instagram Story, including the message: “I just thought it was a regular date night wow man.”

She added, “I cried my lashes offff.”

Hardman eventually changed into a white T-shirt that read: “She said yes!”

It came days after Hardman received his third Super Bowl ring at the Chiefs’ ceremony in Kansas City on June 13.

The wideout brought Gordon as his date to the ring celebration, where they coordinated in bright blue outfits on the red carpet.

Gordon gave birth to their son on Super Bowl Sunday last year, when the Chiefs beat the Eagles, 38-35, in Glendale, Ariz.

Hardman was by her side as he did not play after being placed on injured reserve due to a pelvic injury.

The couple welcomed their daughter earlier this year, but did not share her name or exact birthday.

Hardman, a second-round pick by the Chiefs in 2019, re-signed with Kansas City on a one-year deal earlier this month.

Hardman spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Chiefs before a brief stint with the Jets last season — which lasted just five games before he reunited with Kansas City in Week 6.

Taylor Swift, who’s dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, celebrated Hardman’s new deal in a comment on Gordon’s Instagram Live during the Chiefs’ ring ceremony.

“JOINING THE PARTY FROM LIVERPOOL LETS GOOOOOOOO,” Swift, who was on tour in Liverpool, U.K. at the time, posted in the comments.

“CONGRATULATIONS,” she continued, adding, “WE GET ANOTHER YEAR OF MECOLE.”

Hardman recorded 14 catches for 118 yards in six regular-season games with the Chiefs last season.

He had five catches for 62 yards in four postseason games.
