NYC Amazon driver attacked, called ‘Spanish bitch’ opens up about ‘frightening’ assault

A New York Amazon driver who was viciously attacked by a stranger while on the job says he called her “sexy” then said he doesn’t “like Spanish bitches” before repeatedly punching and kicking her — prompting her hero co-worker to intervene and “beat his ass.”

Tamia Alvarez, 23, told The Post she had just collected some packages from the Amazon warehouse in Jamaica, Queens and was stuck in traffic when the creep, later identified by police as Kevon Wilson, started “storming towards” her last Sunday.

“We made a left turn and the guy threw himself into a coworker’s car a bit ahead, then he looked at me and my van and started running up to me,” Alvarez said in an interview on Friday.

Kevon Wilson had his bond set at $7,500 following his arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.

“He did that thing guys do where they pull up their pants when they’re about to fight someone and I knew it was about to escalate.

“Then he just started hitting me and pulled me out of the van.”

CCTV footage of the harrowing incident showed the quick-thinking victim grabbing the keys out of the ignition before her attacker could make off with the delivery van.

Alvarez said she hit him back at least once while trying to defend herself and also protect her belongings.

During the “frightening” assault, Wilson was allegedly ranting at his victim, she said.

“He was like ‘oh you’re sexy’ then he was like ‘I don’t like Spanish bitches’,” Alvarez recalled.

“I was confused. Then he said, ‘you’re broke you work at Amazon, you only work for $15 an hour. He called me a bitch a lot to be honest and kept telling me he makes more money than me.”

Alvarez’s co-worker Daniel Collins raced over to defend her — landing several blows of his own against the attacker.

Tamia Alvarez’s co-worker came to her defense, beating the creep’s ‘ass.’

“He beat his ass but the guy just kept coming back. I was telling him to go away,” Alvarez said.

“He got himself handed to him.”

Collins was filmed repeatedly pummeling the suspect in the middle of the road until Alvarez stepped in to separate the two men.

When the pair eventually stopped brawling, the perp then brazenly jumped into the van in an apparent bid to take off with the vehicle again.

The suspect first landed two punches on the female Amazon worker.

Both Amazon workers, who each sustained minor injuries, could then be seen trying to drag the man back out of the vehicle, the video shows.

“He stopped for a bit but just kept coming back and trying to get in the van,” Alvarez said.

The would-be carjacker was later arrested for robbery and assault.

The alleged perp, dressed in black, tried to steal the female Amazon worker’s van.

Alvarez, who was born and raised in New York, said she no longer feels safe in the city.

“I’m definitely starting to open my eyes more now due to the fact it happened so quickly and you hear of this sort of thing now happening a lot,” she told The Post.

“We need more people to defend our females in life, in general,” she added.

“Thank God for the young man who came out and helped, and for those who were raised the right way… because I don’t know how it would have went otherwise, and it can happen to any young female.”

Amazon didn’t return a request to comment Friday.

The workers dragged the suspect back out of the van.

Wilson had his bond set at $7,500 following his arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on Monday.

He is slated to face court again on July 16.

The suspect has a slew of prior arrests to his name, including an assault that unfolded in May 2020, law enforcement sources said.

He also has an open bench warrant for a traffic violation, the sources added.
