Hamas weapon supplier killed in Lebanon: IDF

Israel pounded multiple targets in Lebanon Saturday, killing a prominent Hamas weapons supplier as the military probed the shooting of a Jewish man in the West Bank in what is now believed to have been a terror attack.

Ayman Ghatma – who supplied weapons to both Hamas and the Egyptian terror group al-Jama’a al-Islamiyya – was targeted and killed while driving near Khiara, less than 25 miles from the Israel-Lebanon border, the IDF said.

The military published grainy black-and-white footage that showed a moving vehicle behind pinpointed before it appears to be smoldering on the side of a road.

Israel also carried out strikes on “Hamas military infrastructure sites” around Gaza City on Saturday, the IDF said.

The Hamas-run media office in Gaza claimed that at least 42 people – including 24 at the Al-Shati refugee camp – were killed in the bombardment.

Footage obtained by Reuters showed homes and walls reduced to rubble and dust covered the streets in the wake of the strikes.

On Saturday evening, the IDF announced that several Hezbollah operatives and sites linked to the terror group had been struck in southern Lebanon.

Footage of the strikes appeared to show the military targeting buildings in the Eyta al-Sha’ab, Yaron and Ramyeh areas.

Also on Saturday evening, Houthi rebels claimed to have attacked both the US aircraft carrier Eisenhower in the Red Sea and the Transworld Navigator ship in the Arabian Sea, the Times of Israel said.

The group did not clarify when the alleged attacks took place.

The Eisenhower attack supposedly achieved its objectives, the group said, without elaborating.

Meanwhile, an Israeli national was fatally shot in Qalqilya, a Palestinian town in the West Bank, on Saturday morning.

The victims – identified as a Jewish man in his 60s – was shot in his vehicle, which was later set on fire, the Times of Israel reported.

He was transferred by Palestinian Red Crescent medics to an Israeli ambulance, where he died from his injuries.

The shooting is believed to have been a terror attack, a military source told the Times of Israel.

It was not clear what the victim was doing in Qalqilya, which is controlled by the Palestinian Authority and therefore off-limits to Israelis.

Some Israeli citizens, however, still frequent cities under Palestinian Authority rule because the prices for goods and services are much cheaper, the Times of Israel noted.

One day before the man was killed, Israeli police said that two members of the Islamic Jihad terror group were killed by Qalqilya.

One of the wanted terrorists was planning on executing an attack in the area, the police claimed.

Officers from the Gideonim unit attempted to arrest the pair when they shot at troops, the Times of Israel said.

The officers fired back and killed the operatives.
