Another mysterious monolith pops up in US, this time in northern Colorado
Another mysterious, reflective monolith has popped up in the US — this time in northern Colorado, according to local residents.
Lori Graves, the owner of the Howling Cow Cafe near the monument in Bellvue — about 75 miles north of Denver, said people have been flocking to her shop asking about the head-scratching structure, which is located on property that she owns.
“It was Sunday morning when someone came into the cafe and said, ‘Where is the Monolith?’” she told KDVR. “‘Where is the Alien monolith?’”
Graves said she’s not sure who’s behind the gleaming, mirrored structure but she has her ideas.
“I almost don’t want to ruin the mystery around it,” she said. “I’m not going to ask people.”
A Reddit user claimed in a subreddit for Fort Collins that they visited the structure and were told by locals that it was erected to mess with a resident in the area — although this has not been confirmed.
The Colorado monolith is the latest to spring up inexplicably all over the world recently.
The structures, evocative of Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey,” have spawned online conspiracy theories of extraterrestrial beings.
Earlier this month, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says another shiny, reflective structure was spotted jutting out of the rocks in the desert by its search and rescue unit near Gass Peak.
It was removed by local authorities days later without ever determining how it got there.
There are no confirmed connections between the monolith in northern Colorado and the one near Las Vegas, according to KDVR.
In March, a monolith was discovered on a remote hill in Wales.
Two similar structures found in Utah and California in 2020 were revealed to be the works of an artist group based in New Mexico called The Most Famous Artist, who fessed up to the stunt as rumors of aliens swirled.
Another monolith, that perplexingly appeared in Turkey in 2021, was a government stunt launched ahead of a space program announcement.
Others were seen in Romania and Ukraine late in 2020.
