Internet roasts Biden’s catastrophic debate performance in savage memes

Malarkey makes for good memes.

Thursday night’s train-wreck debate between President Biden and Republican nominee-in-waiting Donald Trump quickly sparked an outpouring of internet memes — as despondent viewers tried to salvage humor from the situation.

“Ok if you don’t live in the US, please turn the debate off. This is our private family humiliation, and we’d all prefer you not stare,” stand-up comic and writer Ginny Hogan quipped on X.

“I’m just walking around my apt pointing at inanimate objects I think would make better presidents,” she added.

Viewers were quick to pick up on how Biden froze and misspoke several times.

“This new Biden game is great,” another X poster wrote alongside a screengrab of the 81-year-old incumbent staring blankly into space.

Biden’s face was surrounded by different buttons, including options to “stare aimlessly into the void,” fire back with “That’s malarkey” — one of his phrases aimed at Trump — and “summon Jill,” the first lady.

One viewer summed up Biden’s performance with a screen grab of the stop-motion character Wallace from “Wallace & Gromit” with his eyes bulging and mouth agape.

“Joe Biden looking at Trump when he speaks #Debates 2024,” the person joked.

Another meme showed Biden looking bewildered on the debate stage and captioning it, “Me when someone starts explaining board game rules.”

Another post featured an image of a truck edited to include the Biden-Harris campaign logo skidding off the highway in flames, writing “Joe Biden debate performance be like….”

One meme account edited a movie clip to show CNN co-moderator Jake Tapper carrying Biden through a chaotic battlefield – only for Trump to swoop in and send the president flying.

“Jake Tapper carrying Joe Biden through the debate,” the caption read.
