England vs. Switzerland odds, prediction: 2024 Euro quarterfinals picks, best bets

Upset meters will likely be going nuts when England faces Switzerland in the 2024 Euro quarterfinals Saturday afternoon.

It is expected to be a 90-minute slog between them, thanks to strong defense from the Swiss and poor play from the English.

Switzerland has lost just one game since Dec. 2022 (18 games), while allowing one goal or fewer in 14 of them.

Oddsmakers at Bet365 Sportsbook are expecting them to lose in the quarterfinal, though, with England coming in at -176 odds to advance to the semifinals.

This is a bit curious, even with the high expectations coming into the Euro for the Brits, as they have been playing inferior football and were nearly eliminated last round.

England vs. Switzerland prediction

Switzerland has surely been the better team through four Euro games, giving teams fits on the defensive end and sacking Italy in the Round of 16.

England was down 1-0 in the Round of 16 to Slovakia before drawing level and eventually pulling off the victory in extra time.

The English are expected to switch formations up in this matchup, with wing Trent Alexander-Arnold moving to right wing back, which should push the Brits into a more offensive mindset.

They cannot get lulled to sleep by Switzerland’s defense and while that’s always possible, you’re best off targeting the better team with the presumptive favorites.

I don’t expect the odds to move much based on this information, so feel free to wait until around match time Saturday (12 p.m. ET) to make your wager.

Assuming the lineup changes ring true, England is the bet to advance in regulation.
