George Clooney changing tune on Biden just shows how pathetic Dems are

In the same way that Joe Biden thinks “What would Hunter suggest?” when he wonders about staying in office, whenever I enter a voting booth, I always think, “What would George Clooney do?”

Those of us who rely on Hollywood actors for our political views don’t get them often enough.

So how very lucky were those of us on the Biden-Harris email list last month when we got a personalized email from Clooney himself.

“It’s George Clooney,” it opened.

How the heart sang.

George Clooney is emailing me!

This very personal message went on, “I’m not exaggerating when I say that this election is the fight of our lives.”

Who wouldn’t believe him?

To my knowledge, no Hollywood actor has ever exaggerated.

And I’ve also never before heard someone say that an election might be the most important of our lifetimes.

This is new information, for sure.

Clooney’s in

Clooney went on to explain: “It’s a choice between those who want to pull America back to the past, and those who want to move America into the future.”

Again, I could not help thinking that this insight felt fresh.

I had never been able to put my finger on the key political difference before.

Now I know that it is between those who want to go forward and those who want to go backward.

I have often wondered whether I should go forward (into the future) or backward (into the past).

This is something only Kamala Harris had previously thought about.

But now, here was George Clooney showing me that America also has to choose whether to go forward or backward.

After thinking about it, I decided I am definitely for going forward.

Most likely into the future.

To hell with the people who want to go backward into the past.

George (since we must now surely be on first-name terms) then encouraged me to “chip in” to “make sure President Biden and Vice President Harris get four more years in the White House.”

And he finished up by saying that “Joe and Kamala’s message of hope” is “one that I believe in” and that voting for them “is the only way to guarantee that future.”

Naturally, I replied, thanking George for his insight and asking if I could come over to his place when I run out of coffee.

I didn’t hear back.

After that email, Clooney threw a fundraiser for Biden at which he raised $28 million — said to be the largest benefit in the history of the Democratic Party.

Clooney’s out

So how confusing it was on Wednesday to hear again from my correspondent.

This time in the pages of the New York Times.

There, Clooney said Biden is someone he “loves” and considers “a friend.”

But he has realized that the Joe Biden he met at the June 15 fundraiser “was not the Joe Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”

He is now calling for Biden to drop out of the race.

This is very strange.

If Clooney and Biden are such good friends, why has Clooney not seen him in the past four years?

Does Clooney see Biden about as often as Clooney emails me?

If not, why did the Biden of last month’s debate come as such a surprise to him?

And why did Clooney still think it a good idea to throw a mega-fundraiser for a man who he now knows is unable to walk onstage without a detailed map of the terrain?

There’s a lot of fun to be had with the idiot Clooney. But there is a serious point here too.

Which is that the Democratic Party’s idea of how to reach voters is not just patronizing.

It is pathetic.

Voters do not care for the views of Hollywood celebrities.

In fact, most voters hate Hollywood celebrities when they’re not just reading the words of others.

Donald Trump didn’t have Hollywood behind him in 2016.

Hillary Clinton did.

Her celeb-filled campaign didn’t help swing one vote in her favor.

Though it probably cost her some.

Biden-Harris seem to think we are living in the Golden Age of Hollywood.

But we’re not.

We’re living in the age of social media, where celeb gate-keepers aren’t needed.

It’s the Democrats’ campaign that’s living in the past.

Not the future — or even the present.

Perhaps Clooney and Kamala could try to work out the difference.

Swalwell unleashes his slime

A congressional committee this week heard overwhelming evidence of the way that left-wing media skew internet advertising their way.

The collusion among left-wing media, shady campaign groups like the “Global Alliance for Responsible Media” and Big Tech was exposed.

Online bias against conservative media was plain.

But the strangest part of the session came when Rep. Eric Swalwell tried to character-assassinate conservative witness Ben Shapiro.

Swalwell (D-Calif.) tried to trap Shapiro by asking his views on abortion, same-sex marriage and gay relations.

The congressman even brought a big printout of a 2018 quote from Shapiro in which he had said, “For example, I may have a desire to sleep with many women, but I do not.”

“I agree with me,” Shapiro replied when Swalwell read the quote.

“I’m sure it’s very hard to restrain yourself,” Swalwell said slimily.

I admired Shapiro’s restraint.

If it had been me, I don’t think I could have restrained myself from saying, “Weren’t you the guy who was banging that Chinese spy?”

But perhaps Shapiro was right to rise above Swalwell.

After all, imagine what it’s like being beneath him. Anyone interested can ask “Fang Fang.”
