Jamal Adams is back in the NFL after agreeing to a one-year contract with the Titans, ESPN.com reported.
The former All-Pro safety with the Jets has battled injuries in recent years but has a chance , if healthy, to start for a rebuilding Titans squad.
Adams tore his quad in Week 1 of the 2022 season with the Seahawks, missing the entire season and forcing him to consider retirement.
Adams also infamously blew up at a doctor in Week 4 for ruling him out with a concussion last season in the Seahawks’ 24-3 win over the Giants.
There were questions about whether Adams, 28, would latch onto a team in 2024 after the Seahawks cut him after the season.
He had been placed on IR in Week 14 with a knee strain that gave him lingering soreness for weeks.
Adams is a three-time Pro Bowl player, having also made All-Pro three times, including a first-team All-Pro selection in 2019; all with the Jets.
The Jets traded Adams to Seattle in 2020 for two first-round picks that eventually turned into Alijah Vera-Tucker and Garrett Wilson.
Adams gets a chance to team back up with his old defensive backs coach, Dennard Wilson, who helped turn him into one of the best safeties in the NFL.
Wilson is now the Titans’ defensive coordinator.
Tennessee has been very busy building up its defense.
They also signed ex-Chiefs star L’Jarius Sneed and fellow defensive back Chidobe Awuzie.
During April’s NFL Draft, the defense was a significant point of emphasis as they decided to use five of their seven draft picks on that side of the ball.
Tennessee currently features Amani Hooker and Elijah Molden as the starting safety positions.
