Ukraine soldiers fearful of future under incoherent Biden: ‘Needs to be removed urgently’

Ukrainian soldiers are weighing in on President Joe Biden‘s bid for a second term, following his recent gaffe during NATO’s closing press conference on Thursday, during which he mistakenly referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “Putin.”

While Zelensky brushed the gaffe off, Ukrainian soldiers told the Kyiv Independent they’re concerned about Biden’s mental fitness, and think the best thing he could do for both America and Ukraine is drop out of his race for reelection.

“I believe that [Biden] needs to be removed urgently,” offered Pavlo, a junior lieutenant at Ukraine’s 63rd Mechanized Brigade, deployed in the Donbas.

“Any reasonable Democrat will be better than him.”

Many of the soldiers said they worried Ukraine’s top Western ally and primary source of weapons in the ongoing push back against Russia’s full-scale invasion would be unable to make governing decisions.

They also don’t see him beating former President Donald Trump, who has questioned aid packages to the war-torn nation and whose first impeachment involved delaying aid for Ukraine, prior to Russia’s February 2022 invasion.

Yevhen, a drone engineer at Ukraine’s 25th Airborne Brigade, said while “Biden was very useful for Ukraine” during its fight against Russia, the U.S. president “did not fight against Russia strongly enough.”

Trump, Yevhen explained, is “ a chaotic person from whom we don’t know what to expect.”

Vice President Kamala Harris, the soldier said, “would be a better president than both” Biden and Trump.

Meanwhile, Russian shelling on Saturday killed four people in Ukraine.

Both countries waged drone attacks Saturday.

One of Ukraine’s drones crashed into an oil depot in the Tsimlyansky district, setting it ablaze.
