Zac Efron breaks his silence after being hospitalized for swimming incident
Zac Efron is speaking out after being hospitalized for a swimming incident in Ibiza.
The “Dirty Grandpa” actor, 36, posted a message on his Instagram Stories on Sunday, alongside a photo of himself exercising shirtless.
Efron wore a bathing suit as he lifted a pair of weights while laying on a pink exercise ball.
“Happy and healthy. Thanks for the well wishes,” he wrote on the picture.
His friend Caleb Davidge also shared a selfie of the pair in the same location. Davidge wrote two weightlifter emojis on the image.
News broke over the weekend that Efron had a “minor swimming incident” at a villa in Ibiza on Friday.
TMZ reported that the “High School Musical” alum was found inside the pool by two villa employees and was taken to the hospital “as a precautionary measure.”
Efron’s rep told People that the actor was released from the hospital Saturday morning.
A few days before the incident, Efron was spotted onstage during DJ Martin Garrix’s performance at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel.
He was also seen at the opening ceremony for the 2024 Paris Olympics on July 26.
The “Iron Claw” actor showed support for Simone Biles after the US women’s gymnastics team won the gold medal last week.
“So incredibly proud of you @simonebiles,” he wrote on Instagram.
Efron famously surprised Biles, 27, on the “Today” show at the 2016 Rio Games.
The then-19-year-old gymnast was a huge fan of Efron’s and was shocked when they met.
“Just call me mrs.efron already,” Biles wrote alongside a photo of Efron kissing her on the cheek.
While Biles is now married to NFL star Jonathan Owens, 29, Efron seems to be single at the moment.
The “Greatest Showman” star split from his Australian girlfriend Vanessa Valladares in 2021 after less than a year of dating.
He reportedly met Valladares in June 2020 while she was working at the Byron Bay General Store in New South Wales in Australia.
According to the Daily Mail, Valladares quit her job to spend more time with Efron.
While they were dating, Valladares threw Efron a surprise birthday bash in her home country, according to Page Six.
Efron has been living Down Under since the COVID-19 pandemic. He sold his longtime Los Feliz, California home for $5.3 million in 2021 and currently stars in Netflix’s “A Family Affair” alongside Nicole Kidman and Joey King.
