Robin Williams’ son Zak honors dad on 10th anniversary of his death: ‘You continue to inspire me’

Robin Williams’ son, Zak Williams, shared a special tribute to his late father on the ten-year anniversary of his tragic death.

Zak, 41, posted an Instagram on Sunday with a photo of Robin as his alien character Mork in the ABC sitcom “Mork & Mindy.”

“Dad, it’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years,” Zak began his emotional caption, shared ten years to the day that Robin died by suicide at age 63 on August 11, 2014.

“Today, I’m reflecting on the immense love you shared with all of us—your family, your friends, and everyone you met,” he continued. “You continue to inspire me every single day to do whatever I can to help create a more connected and loving world for our family.”

“Love you forever,” Zak concluded.

Robin shared Zak with his first wife Valerie Valardi, to whom he was married from 1978 to 1988.

The “Jumanji” star was also father to daughter Zelda, 35, and son Cody, 32, with his second wife, Marsha Garces.

Robin was married to his third wife, Susan Schneider, at the time of his death.

The legendary comedian took his own life inside his Paradise Cay, Calif. home after battling anxiety, depression and Parkinson’s disease. His autopsy revealed he had Lewy Body Dementia.

On Sunday, Robin’s daughter spoke out on the 10-year anniversary of her dad’s death to shut down a rumor that the late actor owned a pet monkey.

Zelda responded to a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) that featured a picture of Robin with Crystal the monkey, his co-star from the “Night at the Museum” movies.

She clarified that Crystal wasn’t Robin’s pet monkey and that the picture of them was not one of the last photos of Robin before he passed.

“It’s been brought to my attention some probably AI written BS like this is going viral,” Zelda wrote in her tweet. “Dad didn’t own a pet monkey, NO ONE should, and if you’re ever tempted to, support your local exotic animal rescues instead.”

In a response to a fan’s tweet, Zelda said that “basically everything is fake” regarding the post about Robin except for the photo itself.

Both Zak and Zelda have carried on their father’s legacy in their own ways.

Zak is on the advisory board for Inseparable, an organization aiming to provide mental health care.

“One thing I found very healing for me through my experience has been service and commitment to service work specifically around mental health and mental health support organizations,” he told PEOPLE in 2020.

“Eating well, committing to a healthy lifestyle. Things that I need in my weekly and daily regimen to better support my wellbeing,” he added.

Zak also married his wife Olivia June in 2020 and they share son McLaurin Clement, 5, and daughter Zola June, 3.

Zelda, meanwhile, works in Hollywood as an actor and director.

She made her feature-length directorial debut earlier this year with the horror comedy “Lisa Frankenstein” starring Cole Sprouse and Kathryn Newton
