Harris-Walz campaign fundraises off Trump’s interview with Musk — who says he’d be ‘happy to host Kamala, too’

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign blasted out a fundraising email Monday as former President Donald Trump was interviewed by billionaire Elon Musk, telling supporters that it needed money to “respond to their lies.”

“Right now, Elon Musk is interviewing Donald Trump live on Twitter (we’re not calling it ‘X’),” the Harris-Walz campaign solicitation message began.

The email, which asked supporters to “chip in $25 now,” charged that Musk, 53, was attempting to seize “control” of “our democracy” by hosting Trump, 78, for a highly anticipated conversation on X.

“It’s not enough that Musk has pledged to donate millions of dollars to help reelect Trump,” the Harris-Walz campaign wrote.

“He’s using his purchased platform –— one of the largest social media sites in the world — to spread Trump’s unhinged and hateful agenda to millions of users.”

The campaign accused the Tesla and SpaceX CEO of being a “lackey for Team MAGA.”

Musk endorsed Trump for president last month, minutes after the assassination attempt against the former commander in chief. The world’s richest person also reportedly plans on donating millions to super PAC aligned with the Trump campaign.

The X owner, however, has insisted that he wouldn’t consider himself “MAGA” (Make America Great Again).

“I think America is great,” Musk said in an interview last month. “I’m more M-A-G, Make America Greater.”

“Musk already ruined Twitter by allowing hate speech and disinformation to flood the platform. Now, Musk is using his vast fortune and broad reach to try to control our democracy,” the fundraising email concluded.

The Harris-Walz campaign released a separate statement after Trump’s X Spaces appearance, arguing that the interview was “unhinged” and throwing shade at Musk for technical issues that delayed the start of the broadcast by about half an hour

“Donald Trump’s extremism and dangerous Project 2025 agenda is a feature not a glitch of his campaign, which was on full display for those unlucky enough to listen in tonight during whatever that was on X.com,” campaign spokesperson Joseph Costello said.

“Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself — self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024,” Costello added.

Musk claimed the delay was due to a “massive” cyberattack ahead of the event.

The billionaire later extended a sit-down invite with Harris.

“Happy to host Kamala on an X Spaces too,” he tweeted early Tuesday.
