JD Vance says he’s ‘angling for baby No. 4’ while holding supporter’s child at Michigan campaign stop

BYRON CENTER, Mich. – Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) told local Michiganders that he’s “angling for baby No. 4” at a small meet and greet before his scheduled remarks.

The Donald Trump VP pick spoke to the voters in a building filled with vintage cars, where he shook hands and socialized.

Vance then spotted a 10-month-old baby in the crowd and, in a classic politician move, asked to hold it while the Senator’s wife, Usha, took pictures for the child’s family.

“I’m angling for baby number four,” Vance said, musing about why he’s so good with children.

Vance has three children with his wife Usha – sons Evan, 6 and Vivek, 4, and daughter Mirabel, 2.

He has spoken about the positives of having children and has been a proponent of increasing the birth rate.

The senator gave a shout-out to his kids during his debut vice presidential speech at the Republican National Convention.

“If you’re watching, Daddy loves you very much,” Vance said from the RNC stage in Milwaukee, before adding, “but get your butts in bed, it’s 10 o’clock.”

Another Michigan voter spoke to Vance and his wife about being a first generation immigrant, nodding to the fact that Usha’s parents are of Indian heritage.

He also spoke to two other voters about their professions, one woman who just graduated from high school and another who is a special education teacher.

The VP pick has been on a multi-state swing throughout this week and last, hitting several battleground states and speaking to media while stressing that Vice President Kamala Harris has not sat down for an interview.
