Oyster Bay website redirects visitors to ‘cheap’ Viagra portal after ‘ridiculous’ server hack
It was an uplifting visit.
The hosting service behind the official website for Oyster Bay, Long Island, was hacked over the weekend, redirecting visitors curious about the town to an online store peddling Viagra alternatives.
“Cheap place to buy Viagra” is what appeared to those searching the internet for the Town of Oyster Bay.
Visitors had a field day with the snafu.
“I know oysters are aphrodisiacs, but this is ridiculous,” commented one Reddit user.
“It’s about the only cheap thing in Oyster Bay,” quipped another.
“Your tax dollars at work ladies and gentlemen,” commented another person.
A town spokesman told The Post their website’s domain provider, Flywheel, was hacked, not Oyster Bay’s website, which was back to normal Monday.
“It wasn’t an internal issue with [our security],” said Oyster Bay spokesman Brian Nevin.
“There was no intrusion to our system or server or site at all,” Nevin added.
Flywheel did not respond to The Post’s repeated requests for comment.
