Simone Biles’ husband took one to the house on Sunday in his Bears debut.
In the third quarter of Chicago’s season opener against the Tennessee Titans, the special teams unit — desperately needing a spark while down 17-3 — blocked a punt, which safety Jonathan Owens immediately scooped up and ran back for a touchdown.
Biles, weeks removed from a dominant outing at the Paris Olympics, reacted to her husband’s score on social media.
“I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK,” the 11-time Olympic medalist gymnast posted on X.
She added in a separate post on her Instagram Story, “Touchdown for hubby.”
Sunday’s touchdown for Owens, 29, marks the second of his career and his first in a Bears uniform.
Owens scored his first touchdown on Thanksgiving last year — also a fumble recovery — in the Packers’ 29-22 victory over the Lions.
The veteran safety is in his first season in Chicago after agreeing to a two-year deal with the Bears this offseason. He spent 2023 in Green Bay, recording 84 tackles and a sack.
Owens previously played for the Houston Texans from 2019-2022 after going undrafted in 2018.
There has been much excitement in the Biles-Owens household as of late.
The superstar gymnast earned four medals at this summer’s Olympics, winning gold in the team and individual gymnastics all-around and the vault final. She also won a silver medal in the floor exercise final.
Owens traveled to Paris to support Biles, 27, at the Games.
He even wore one of her gold medals as a tribute to his wife, who happens to be one of the greatest gymnasts of all time.
Biles and Ownes announced their engagement in early 2022 and got married in the spring of 2023.
The Bears ultimately defeated the Titans in their season opener, 24-17.
