With more Americans watching their wallets, it may be surprising to learn that the average person still spends $1,754 on beauty products per year.
Oh, yes. It’s true.
According to a survey conducted last year by LendingTree, 35% of the 1,950 consumers polled said they’d cut back on other forms of spending to keep up with their beauty habits, and honestly, I’m not surprised — I’m a millennial.
RELATED: Sol de Janeiro review: What’s worth it from the Brazilian brand with a cult-like following
We spend roughly $2,670 a year on products, which is just a little more than Gen Zers, who spend $2,048. (If you’re curious how that works out to a $1,754 average, Gen Xers drop $1,517, while Baby Boomers only spend $494.)
Although those figures sound high, they still only average out to $51 per week. There’s a lot you can get for $51, especially if you know where to go. Like most of New York Post’s shopping crew Post Wanted, I find the best beauty products for a bargain on Amazon to save money.

For a Budget-Friendly Blowout: Revlon One-Step Volumizer
![A Revlon hair dryer brush.](https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/05/Untitled-2000-x-1333-px-10.jpg?w=1024)
Pros:
- Easy to use, dries hair quickly, and is durable
- Suitable for all hair types and lengths
- Minimizes damage and frizz while improving shine and volume
- Can be used to straighten hair or to create salon-quality blowouts, and waves
Cons:
- Heat is very strong — heat protectant is a must
- Noisy motor
- Limited settings
Many of us have never mastered the art of a proper at-home blowout. Who knew using a dryer and round brush at once required such coordination? Thank the beauty gods that the Revlon One-Step Volumizer was invented. It’s sooo easy to use and thousands of Amazon customers love it.
NYP Staff Review:
If you’re ready to work smarter and not harder on your hair’s wash day, this is the tool for you. I never mastered the art of a good round brush blowout, but Revlon’s hot air brush helps me achieve the same look by drying and styling at the same time. I’ve been using this tool weekly for over 3 years and it truly checks all of my boxes: I get a smooth, voluminous blowout with gorgeous shine and volume with every use. Like most women, I’m busy and want to make the most out of each hair wash. I prefer to wait until my hair is about 80% air-dried or rough-dried to minimize heat exposure, and then I can use my Revlon to style my hair in under 15 minutes, moving from section to section.
The one downside of this tool? She makes a lot of noise to deliver that heat; I would even say it’s noisier than the average blow dryer. This is another reason I like to use it on mostly dried hair — to minimize how long I will be hearing it. And, the heat it gives off is strong, so it’s very important to apply a heat protectant. However, it consistently delivers an easy and flawless blowout, and at such a great value compared to other popular tools, it’s still a 5-star review from me. — Meaghan Roche, Senior Commerce SEO Manager

Best Scrunchies: Slip Silk Skinnie Scrunchies

Pros:
- Silk material prevents tugging, breakage and other damage
- Durable
- Also available: Large Slip Silk Scunchies and Midi Slip Silk Scrunchies
Cons:
- The price can seem excessive for hair ties, but they are made of 100% mulberry silk and hold up longer than traditional hair ties
If you haven’t heard, regular hair ties are a beauty-don’t. They pull, damage and cause hair breakage. We recommend something kinder to delicate strands, preferably made of silk, like this option from Slip. They’re cute, come in a variety of sizes and styles, and give hair the princess treatment it deserves.
NYP Staff Review:
In an effort to be gentler with my hair, and after a lifetime of using those basic elastic hair ties, I switched to Slip’s scrunchies. While definitely a bit of a splurge, they are so worth it! The soft silk doesn’t tear or damage my hair, and thanks to being non-slip, I don’t find myself tightening my ponytail or bun throughout the day. — Angela Tricarico, Decider Commerce Writer

Pros:
- Comes with an applicator wand for a fingerless application
- Available in five flavors
- Soothing for cracked lips
Cons:
- Some reviewers on Amazon take issue with the price. However, plenty of customers say it’s worth it
We’ve reviewed LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask and keep adding it to our cart. It’s hydrating, a must for chapped lips, and comes in a bunch of yummy flavors that make it fun to apply. With more than 42,000 ratings on Amazon, it’s clear we’re not alone in our fandom.

NYP Staff Review:
I’m a bit of a lip balm addict. I’ve definitely gone overboard testing every balm out there to find one that will keep my often dry and cracked lips nice and smooth. The lip sleeping mask from LANEIGE is thicker than a typical daytime balm, but it works absolute wonders. To test a lip product’s true effectiveness, I look to see if I can still feel it on when I wake up, meaning, it hasn’t dried up or dried out my lips while I sleep. I always wake up with hydrated lips that aren’t cracked or painful. — Tricarico

Pros:
- Smells amazing and leaves skin super soft
- Loaded with guarana, which tightens and firms
- More than 24,000 ratings on Amazon
- Cult beauty item
Cons:
- This won’t be a favorite if you dislike fragrance but most people find the scent intoxicatingly good
Does this product need an introduction? I don’t think so. Everyone (including us) loves its delicious smell and how soft it leaves skin. It can be used on other spots besides the bum, but it does do a bang-up job of making butt and thigh dimples less noticeable, thanks to its inclusion of guarana, a caffeine that can temporarily depuff and smooth.

NYP Staff Review:
The Brazilian Bum Cum Cream is a holy grail as far as body butters go. If you want a luscious, easily absorbent and decadently creamy formula, this one is renowned for taking you to the tropics. It’s my favorite to use, especially, in the summertime months, and you won’t have to worry about dry skin after using it. Because it’s a bit firming, it’s excellent to apply to your inner thighs (oh, and your bum) as well. — Victoria Giardina, Content Strategist and Commerce Writer
I’m not exaggerating when I say that this body cream is the only one for me. I’ve tried others, but always find myself coming back to Sol De Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream for a few reasons: The smell (the brand’s signature “Cheirosa 62” scent) is irresistible, and I love how quickly it absorbs into my skin despite being on the thicker end of the body cream spectrum (it’s not quite body butter, but close). — Tricarico
Key Features: | Contains caffeine, which is known to temporarily reduce the appearance of dimpled skin, Made without parabens, sulfates, phthalates or mineral oil, Vegan and cruelty-free |

Pros:
- Easy to use
- Formula dissolves stains, while being gentle on teeth and gums
- LED light has an integrated timer
Cons:
- Takes a few at-home sessions to see results
Wine, coffee and other little pleasures stain teeth. Rather than ditching your vices, we (I, specifically) recommend grabbing this teeth whitening kit from VieBeauty.
NYP Staff Review:
Everybody likes Crest Whitestips but I guess I’m not coordinated enough to deal with them. This VieBeauty Teeth Whitening Kit is super straightforward and only takes 10 minutes to use. The syringes are filled with carbamide peroxide, which is the whitening agent. You squeeze the gel into the mouth trays, and then place the LED light over them. Not a lot is needed, so the product lasts a long time. I’m using the brand’s whitening pens now, which are even easier, but I still like to pop the trays into my mouth so I can use the light with them. Highly recommend. — Holly J Coley, Commerce Updates Editor

Pros:
- Amazon bestseller
- Takes less than a minute to apply
- Quick
Cons:
- Needs to be used twice per day for 7 consecutive days
If a whitening kit like the one above is still too much effort, go with an even easier whitening pen. This set from VieBeauty brigthens pearlies, whether you’re a smoker, like the vino, chocolate or java. They’re small enough to stash in your purse and take less then one minute to use.
NYP Staff Review:
I got these after I had finished the tooth whitening gels from the ViewBeauti Whitening Kit. I love them because the application is quick and fairly goofproof. To make them work even better, I’ll apply the paste to my teeth, and then smear some into the mouthguard from the kit. Afterward, I’ll — you guessed it — use the LED light for 10 or 20 minutes. Game changer! You’ll have to keep your lips off your teeth for 30 seconds after applying, but that is a small price to pay for a whiter smile. — Coley

Pros:
- Can be used on hair, face, and body
- Lightweight
- Helps to reduce and prevent the appearance of scars
Cons:
- Contains plant oils that some may be allergic to
Whether you’re pregnant or simply want to keep your skin well hydrated, Bio-Oil is worthy of your consideration. It’s been around for ages, absorbs fast, and can help minimize the look of scars, including stretch marks.
NYP Staff Review:
I’ve never been one to add more skincare products to the routine unless I need to, but when I got pregnant I immediately purchased BIO-OIL and started using it religiously in my first trimester. The formula combines vitamins, plant extracts, and oils to increase the moisture content and soften the skin to allow it to stretch as your body changes. Plus, Lavender and rosemary oil act as a mild antiseptic to help heal scars that have already formed. While it’s a bit on the oily side, it doesn’t take long to absorb into your skin. It did its job for me — and I’ve heard raving reviews from other moms who swear by it as well. The right scent can elevate your mood with a single spritz, and this one from Sol de Janeiro is small enough to fit into your bag for touch-ups!
NYP Staff Review:
Of course, I’m a huge fan of the viral Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 62 body mist that smells like the brand’s Bum Bum Cream, but the newer Cheirosa 59 “Delícia Drench” scent has become my go-to since trying it a few months ago. Inspired by the feel-good bossa nova music of the late 50s, the “uplifting” gourmand has notes of vanilla orchid, sugared violet, and sheer sandalwood. It’s a deeper and more complex vanilla that I’ve found lingers nicely throughout the day. — Tricarico

Best for Thinning Hair: Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment for Women ( 2% Minoxidil)
![A bottle of hair growth solution with a long applicator, and the box it comes in.](https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/06/Untitled-design-2024-06-02T083233.131.jpg?w=1024)
Pros:
- The precision nozzle makes it easy to spot treat thinning areas
- Non-sticky formula
Cons:
- It takes about 4 months of consistent use to see results
According to Cleveland Clinic, 30 million women experience hair loss at some point. If you’re part of this group, there are options, including Keranique Hair Regrowth Treatment. The 2% formula is gentler than the 5%, and its long nozzle makes it easier to target hard to reach spots on the back of the head.
NYP Staff Review:
I have telogen effluvium, a condition brought on by stress. It makes your hair thin and fall out — obviously, very stressful! I tried this 5% minoxidil foam product, and it works. Unfortunately, it caused my scalp to itch and flake, so I had to stop using it. When my hair began thinning again (minoxidil is a lifelong beauty commitment), my dermatologist said I could try a 2% solution to see if it would be less irritating. I went with Keranique’s because one, it was on sale at the time, and two, I didn’t love how drying the foam was. I was experiencing the most hair loss around my temples, and some sections of my part, so I liked how the long applicator made it easier to target those sections. It was also less messy than the foam. It’s recommended to use every day, but since I already had some regrowth from when I was using the foam, I only applied the spray a few times a week. Recently, I noticed that when I put my hair up, I couldn’t see as much of my scalp, which is huge. I also use the shampoo and conditioner, which I like, but I’m fairly certain the spray is where all the magic is. I need to be more diligent with it, but there’s a definite improvement.” — Coley

Best Exfoliator: Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Salicylic Acid Exfoliant
![A bottle of BHA excoriator from Paula's Choice](https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/05/Untitled-2000-x-1333-px-3-1.jpg?w=1024)
Pros:
- Improves skin texture by gently removing layers of dead skin and unclogging pores
- Leave on formula
- Contains salicylic acid to decongest pores, and green tea to reduce inflammation
Cons:
- You may experience a skin purge before you see improvement in texture
Exfoliating your face with something abrasive can cause micro-tearing, which is why derms recommend chemical exfoliants like beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). They not only effectively remove layers of dead skin but also get deep into pores to dislodge the oil, dirt, and makeup that make them appear larger. This exfoliator from Paula’s Choice is an Amazon bestseller and comes with rave reviews from Amazon customers, as well as members of our team.
NYP Staff Review:
I’m not going to sugarcoat it: the first time I used Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting Exfoliant my skin completely purged, meaning it quickly brought dead skin cells to the surface. This was ultimately a good thing, but it looked like acne and freaked me out. I didn’t use it for a few months until speaking with my facialist, who assured me that it was a great and popular item and worth another chance. I listened to her, and when I had a few days that I knew I wouldn’t be seeing many people, I tried it again. I did not have the same reaction and no longer fear this product, I love it, and feel like it’s one of the most effective chemical exfoliants I’ve tried. I now aim to swipe it over my skin with a cotton ball twice a week. — Jacqueline Goldstein, Commerce VP

- Suitable for all skin types
- Mild and non-irritating formula that’s fragrance-free
- Lightweight and fast-absorbing
- Doesn’t leave a residue
- Hydrates skin while reducing dullness and repairing imperfections
Cons:
- Candidly, the name “snail mucin” can be off-putting
- Not vegan but according to the company, no snails are harmed in the process of harvesting the mucin
While I was writing up the intro to this product it sold out. Yes, COSRX Advanced Snail Mucin Power Essence, is that good, you guys! Fortunately, it’s back in stock on Amazon and is the product to grab if you covet glass skin. It reduces dullness, improves skin texture, and all the other gorgeous things we want from our skincare.
NYP Staff Review:
People talk about their “holy grail” skincare items — this is that for me. I’ve had incredibly sensitive, acne-prone skin since my adolescent years, and I’ve tried more skincare products than I can count, both the prescription and non-prescription variety. With the help of social media, my own research, and consulting my dermatologist, I’ve identified that my damaged skin barrier has majorly affected my face. Along came Cosrx’s snail mucin to save my barrier by delivering noticeable hydration that my skin simply loves. Listen, I get it — the name “snail mucin” isn’t exactly enticing. But believe me, it’s a true difference-maker in my routine, reducing breakouts and the appearance of acne scars, repairing dark spots and replenishing my skin’s moisture. I’ve been using this as the base layer in my skincare routine for nearly two years, but I truly noticed a difference very quickly. This serum genuinely gives me that glow from within that we’re all seeking and keeps it looking youthful and plump. It’s very light, dries fast, and can be layered easily with other skincare ingredients, as well as under makeup. I like to spread a few pumps all over my face, neck and décolletage (don’t skip this area!) with clean fingers daily after cleansing, followed with a heavier moisturizer before finishing the rest of my routine.” — Roche

NYP Staff Review:
I love Color Wow’s Dream Coat Supernatural Spray because it doubles as a heat protectant and combats humidity at the same time. It’s basically purchasing a 2-for-1 deal. Plus, it adds shine if you use it properly. The key is to apply generous amounts. If you want to walk away looking like the viral videos with “glass hair” you’ll need to use a lot of product while drying your hair in small sections with a lot of heat concentrated in one area. NYP Staff Review:
This facial sunscreen is one of the most cosmetically elegant that I’ve tried and it hails from a dermatologist-loved brand. What’s great about it is how it’s broad-spectrum, so it protects against UVA and UVB rays. TLDR: it protects against aging and burns. - Can conceal dark circles without a color corrector beneath
- Can be returned free on Amazon
Cons:
- Applicator can dispense too much product at once
This Maybelline Concealer is award-winning for a reason — it works! It applies buttery smooth and is so moisturizing that even if you have the driest skin, no cracks or creases will show. It comes in lots of different colors too, and we always stand by a brand that’s inclusive in its offerings.
NYP Staff Review:
I don’t wear much makeup these days, but back when I did, this best concealer was always under my eyes. Its texture is so silky and provides full coverage. I’m telling you, even if you have serious dark shadows, this stuff can hide it! As other reviewers have mentioned, the applicator can overflow with product, but its ability to disguise tired eyes makes it a non-issue for me. Honestly, I feel like I need to add it back into my routine again. — Coley

NYP Staff Review:
Despite its very silly name, I’m a huge fan of Unicorn Snot’s body glitter. While I don’t use it every single day, it’s a staple of my getting-ready routine whenever I’m going to a concert. I’ve always been shocked with how well it stays sparkly and doesn’t melt off even through humidity and sweat. — Tricarico

- Easy to apply, and they stay put
Cons:
- You’ll need to wear them for several hours for best results
If you can’t afford injectables, hate needles or prefer something more natural to target forehead wrinkles, you must give Frownies a try. They’ve been around for decades, are only $25, and have more than 16,000 five-star ratings on Amazon.
NYP Staff Review:
I hate how cost-prohibitive in-office procedures are, so I’m always looking for alternatives to keep my face as line-free as possible. I found these while doing a deep dive for ‘non-Botox wrinkle reducers’ and was impressed enough by the reviews to give them a go. I’m telling you, they work! The morning after using them, my elevens were virtually undetectable. Unfortunately, there’s something on the adhesive that doesn’t agree with my skin, so I had to stop using them. However, I still recommend. They deliver on their promise of smoother skin and they’re cheap! You will look…odd wearing them around, but who cares? Take it as an opportunity to send your bestie silly selfies like I did. — Coley

NYP Staff Review:
These are the only makeup sponges I’ve used in years. They’re friendly for all skin and makeup types, easily distributing and blending any liquids, creams and powders in your routine. Prior to using these, I always applied my foundation with my fingers for that “warmed skin” look, but I’ve found that using the flat edge of this sponge does a great job of evenly applying the product and leaving a very natural finish. The sponge also makes it really easy to build coverage. They’re relatively easy to clean, which helps each sponge’s shelf-life last that much longer. My favorite hacks include dampening the sponge before applying makeup, and also using it for setting spray to create the most seamless and flawless finish. — Roche

Best for Expensive-Looking Hair: COLOR WOW Money Masque

Pros:
- Leave-in formula that moisturizes, fights frizz and protects hair from heat styling
- Good for all hair types
Cons:
- A large jar is on the pricier side, especially if you plan to use the hair mask weekly
A mask that fights frizz, hydrates parched locks and protects from heat styling? Yes, please. Even better if it makes us look like we just left an expensive salon.
NYP Staff Review:
I recently bleached my hair blonde and I’ve found my hair frizzes out a lot more. I’ve tried many hair masks but nothing has compared to the collab Chris Appleton and Color Wow did with their Money Masque.
The cost was hard to swallow but the results were worth every last drop because it sealed my cuticles and made my hair look glossy after a fresh blowout. No need to apply conditioner after use because it locks in silky strands with moisture without weighing it down. Hydrated blonde hair can now coexist because of this product. It’s seriously worth every penny. — Sutton-Williams

NYP Staff Review:
As an all-in-one tool, this Conair trimmer comes with attachments for ear/nose hair and eyebrows. However, I primarily use this with the standard precision trimmer for peach fuzz on my face. It’s incredibly gentle while still removing unwanted hair, no pain or scratches left behind! Pros:
- Budget-friendly
- Depuffs with caffeine
- Can be used morning and night
Cons:
- We’re still on the fence on whether it helps dark circles or not
Some people think eye creams don’t work, but we’re not them. And this one from The INKEY List is not much of an investment. Like many eye creams, it has caffeine to make tired eyes look more awake, but it also has a mica blend to add a dose of sparkle.
NYP Staff Review:
There was a time I wasn’t getting much sleep and it was starting to show. I decided to give The INKEY List Brighten-I Eye Cream a try and found that I liked how moisturizing and light it was. Dry skin always reveals fine lines, and this gives just enough hydration to keep my eyes from looking terrible. It hasn’t done much for my dark circles, but the extra moisture and caffeine are much appreciated. — Coley

Cons:
- Not 100% transfer or smudge-proof
A full face of glam takes time to do, so the last thing anyone wants is to see their foundation or brows melting in the middle of the day. This setting spray from Urban Decay helps makeup stay put, even in the hottest weather or sweatiest dance floor.
NYP Staff Review:
Urban Decay will always be a staple makeup brand, and its setting spray is certainly a staple in my routine. Unlike many other setting sprays, the All Nighter feels like skin — I truly feel like I don’t have makeup on when I finish with this product. It definitely adds hours to the wear I can get out of a full face of makeup, which is a huge win. Although I wouldn’t say it’s 100% transfer or smudge-proof, it’s pretty waterproof, which is great for unpredictable weather, a little face sweat, or even a glam day at the beach. My favorite hack is to spray the product onto my beauty blender sponge once the rest of my makeup is done, and pat all over for the most even and natural finish that will hold all day and night.” — Roche

Best Unsexy Beauty Product: finipil Lait 50

Pros:
- Treats and prevents in-grown hairs, razor burn, and itchiness
- Cooling sensation immediately relieves any discomfort
- Great for post-shaving or waxing
- A small amount of product goes a long way
Cons:
- Relatively small bottle for the price
- Cooling sensation may not be desirable for some
Even if summer wasn’t around the corner, most of us have better things to do than deal with unsightly razor bumps and irritation from shaving. While you can totally go au natural — no judgment from us — this may be a better alternative. The finipil Lait 50 is not only an antibacterial and antimicrobial but also protects the hair follicle to prevent ingrown hairs. Thousands of folks on Amazon reach for it after having a Brazillian, as well as to spot-treat acne.
NYP Staff Review:
I can’t talk about skincare without at least one mention of the unsexy skincare trend. Not everything we put on our faces and bodies comes in cute packaging, but everyone has unsexy needs to care for. My sensitive skin is very prone to in-growns and razor burn, and I’ve tried countless hair removal products and treatments to mitigate the painful and unsightly bumps. This Finipil antiseptic cream is my best line of defense and makes a huge difference on freshly shaved or waxed skin. If you’ve ever experienced tenderness, itching or in-growns, this is the best product to try to eliminate the pain and discomfort, as well as prevent those bumps. I apply it to the area immediately after shaving, and will be met with a cooling sensation and — more importantly — no bumps or pain. I’ve even persuaded my boyfriend to use this after a few painful in-grown hairs on his neck from shaving. A little goes a long way; you really only need to spread about a pea-sized amount on the affected area. — Roche

NYP Staff Review:
My sister, who also has dry, curly hair, turned me onto this. The Moroccanoil Treatment moisturizes my hair without weighing it down and makes it look silky. - Long lasting results
- 3 comfort modes to adjust to sensitive skin areas
- Gentle enough for bikini, armpit, and even the face
- Comes with instructions, a precision head, razor, and travel case
Cons:
- May not be effective on darker skin tones or lighter body hair
- Requires frequent and consistent usage to see results
- Can be time consuming
- Treatment may be uncomfortable on more sensitive skin
- Flashing light is bright
- Pricey
We’ve written about ILP Devices before, and yes, they work. This one, however, is in the home of one of our staff members, so it clearly needed to be on this list. It has three different comfort modes, as well as a precision head for hard to target spots. Stay consistent and you may be able to ditch your razor and shaving cream soon all together.
NYP Staff Review:
My body hair grows back rather quickly. Typically, I would shave everyday as stubble reappears overnight. Additionally, I’m prone to razor bumps and in-growns, and wanted to find an alternative that wouldn’t break the bank but would ultimately save me time and maintenance. In search of a sensitive skin-friendly method of hair removal, I finally decided to try Braun’s IPL device after purchasing it on sale during Prime Day. The device is very easy to control and adjust to your comfort level, but does cause some mild discomfort. I wouldn’t personally describe it as painful, but you do feel that it’s working on a concentrated area of hair follicles. The flashing light took some adjusting to. It’s pretty bright, so I avoid looking directly at it. But again, it indicates that it’s working.
As for its effectiveness, the TLDR is that it works but only on specific skin and body hair types. It’s important to do your research to determine if the product will be safe and effective for your unique needs. It does take very consistent and frequent use. I started noticing the hair not growing back when I increased my treatment from once to twice a week and really stuck to a routine. It’s not overly time-consuming, considering you can do it at home rather than a salon and for a fraction of the cost. Treating my legs, underarms and bikini area takes between 5-10 minutes usually.” — Roche

NYP Staff Review:
I used to work at Aesop, and the Redemption Body Scrub is by far my favorite body product they offer. The scent of this is intoxicating (think fresh air in a pine forest) and works with the steam in your shower to create a glorious, spa-like environment while you scrub-a-dub. It’s also highly effective as a body exfoliant thanks to its finely milled pumice (no environmentally detrimental beads here) and a small dollop goes a long way. NYP Staff Review:
I found this on Instagram or Pinterest and was instantly intrigued when I saw how the SPF left a shimmery finish. Pros:
- Gentle and effective on all skin types

NYP Staff Review:
Garnier’s micellar water is my go-to makeup remover. I have sensitive skin but have never had irritation from using this product with some simple cotton rounds, as it’s formulated without any fragrances, oils or alcohol. Its non-drying ingredients don’t harm my skin barrier, which is a huge plus in my book. I love that I can save on a two-pack, since I use this every single day to remove my sunscreen and makeup.— Roche

Pros:
- Absorbs fast
- Contains antioxidants, including vitamin C, and green tea
Cons:
- Can feel sticky applied to dry skin
Dry skin can make one look tired and washed out. The fix? A hyaluronic acid, preferably with brightening vitamin C. This one from DERMA E is lightweight, absorbs fast, and also contains probiotics to give additional moisture. More than 10,000 people have added it to their cart this month alone.
NYP Staff Review:
I was looking for a vitamin C and liked that this one used natural ingredients. The fact it had hyaluronic acid was just a bonus. Almost immediately after I started using it, my friends began giving me compliments on how good my skin looked. Now they all have their own bottle.
You only need one pump. Hyaluronic acid needs moisture to do its thing, so I like to splash my face with water before applying it or use it when I’ve stepped out of the shower. If you don’t have damp skin when applying, it can feel slightly tacky. — Coley

Pros:
- Uses natural ingredients, such as tea tree and rosemary oil
- Soothing
- Helps smooth dry, split ends
Cons:
- Slightly heavy, because of the castor oil
This hair oil went viral a while back, and people are still crazy about it. It uses castor oil, which is also having a beauty moment, along with rosemary oil, which may help regrow hair. A great option for those seeking a non-Minoxidil solution to hair loss, the before-and-afters are impressive, to say the least. And if you like products with herbaceous smells, you’ll love massaging this into your scalp and ends.
NYP Staff Review:
Skin is our biggest organ, so I like going the natural route whenever I can, beauty-wise. I’ve read some of the studies on using rosemary oil for hair loss, so I had a lot of hopes for this product. Best Collagen: Supplement: Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder

Pros:
- Easily blends into water, juice, smoothies, or coffee
- Derived from grass-fed cows, plus contains hyaluronic acid and vitamin C
Cons:
- Pricey for the amount of servings
We start losing collagen in our mid-twenties, so finding ways to increase the protein is key. Vital Proteins is Amazon’s number one bestseller in the category, and doesn’t include any fillers. Good for skin, hair and nails, it’s the beauty supplement you don’t want to be without.
NYP Staff Review:
I started taking collagen powder a few years ago and in my opinion, it really does work. Are the results dramatic? Mine haven’t been, but I did see a decrease in the quality of my nails, hair and skin when I stopped taking it. Collagen has to have vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to be properly absorbed, so I like that Vital Proteins has both in its ingredient list. I’ve also heard that you need to be consuming regular protein, so I generally put it into a protein shake. The taste is completely undetectable. — Coley

Pros:
- Available in several scents, including Burboun Vanilla, Freecia, and Amber
- Infused with argan oil to moisturize

The Kween Silver Glitter Spray from Eve NYC adds just a dusting of glitter for an extra pop of bling, minus the extra jewelry. It also comes in several different scents, which means it doubles as a body mist!
NYP Staff Review:
I love to add a little glow to my skin in the summer, especially when I wear strapless tops and I truly swear by this spray from Eva NYC. It’s kind of like a hybrid between sparkles and a body glow. It doesn’t feel too aggressive and sparkly but it’s still fun and I get so many compliments when I put it on. NYP Staff Review:
With slicked back ponytails all the rage right now, the Dae styling cream has become my holy grail product on third-day hair. Before that, I’d tried everything: hairspray, wax stick, and gel, but it either didn’t hold or left my hair feeling gross. I have nearly a dozen hair tools, ranging from basic hair dryers to automatic curling irons. Conair is one of my tried and true brands for hair care, and this thermal brush is my latest obsession. If you’re craving a simple way to add bounce to your blowout, this is it. I love using this brush to create flips, waves or curls, and it only takes a matter of minutes. The tool heats up in just 60 seconds, and styles easily without using quite as much heat as some more-damaging products. It took me one or two uses of trial and error to get down the techniques I like best, but I’m thrilled with the results and use it weekly to get a bouncy 90s-style blowout look that earns lots of compliments. NYP Staff Review:
Whenever I’m outside in the summer, I’m usually wearing my hair in a tight ponytail. I’ve never really considered that there would be a way to prevent the line of sunburn I typically get on my scalp — until I found Supergoop!’s SPF part powder. Apply it similarly to a powder dry shampoo directly to the area of your head where your part is as the last step in your hair care routine, and blend out with your fingers or a hairbrush. — Tricarico

Best Brush: WetBrush Thick Hair Detangling Brush
![A purple brush from the front and back.](https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/06/Untitled-2000-x-1333-px-14.jpg?w=1024)
Pros:
- Great value
- Pain-free detangling
- Reduces damage
- Effective on wet or dry hair
Cons:
- May not be best for thin, fine or very straight hair
Hair brushes are not the most exciting product but they’re a necessity one only appreciates when they use a poorly designed one. Fortunately, this one from Wet Brush isn’t that. It has thousands of fans on Amazon and is a must-add to your cart for those with lots of hair that tangles easily.
NYP Staff Review:
I’ve been a Wet Brush believer since 2015 – they simply have the best detangling technology I’ve tried. I’ve used many iterations of the brush, but my long, thick hair has always tangled so easily and the original brush struggled to go all the way through the depth of my hair. Now, this is the brush I reach for every day for pain-free detangling as it’s designed specifically for thick hair. As advertised, it takes significantly less effort and results in less damage than standard hairbrushes, and it works well on both wet and dry hair. — Roche

Best Sculpting Device: NuFACE Mini
![A facial toning device](https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/05/Untitled-design-58.jpg?w=1024)
Pros:
- FDA cleared
- Uses microcurrent technology to lift, smooth and stimulate collagen production
- Visible improvement after one use
Cons:
- Results aren’t permanent
Skip the jade roller and gua sha tool. The NuFace Mini is way better. It uses low-voltage electrical currents to lift muscles and boost collagen production, which results in plumper, healthier-looking skin. Although results aren’t permanent, you’ll see a difference after a single use, and it only takes 5 minutes.
NYP Staff Review:
This was one of my first big girl beauty purchases, and like the other best beauty products on Amazon that I’ve recommended, it really does work. I bought it after I lost a lot of weight, which made my face look drawn and sallow. I used it religiously, plus added some protein into my diet, and what a difference it made. It has to be used every day for about 60 or 90 days for five minutes, but afterward, you can get away with just three times per week. I don’t even use it for the full 5 minutes anymore, but stick to about 3 minutes. It gives that youthful plump, which you tend to only appreciate after turning 30. Many use it at night but I like using it in the morning. It makes me look more fresh and less dehydrated. Is it pricey? Yes, but it works and should last for years. — Coley
Key Features: | Includes microcurrent gel, cordless design (needs to be charged), FDA-Cleared |

Pros:
- Made with 20% organic shea butter
- Locks in moisture without leaving an oily residue
- A little goes a long way, so it will be a while before you need to restock
Cons:
- Some Amazon customers complain about the price for the larger tube ($30), but most agree that it’s still worth it
There’s nothing pretty about dry, cracked hands. L’OCCITANE, however, has a fix for that. It’s luxurious hand cream. It’s small enough for travel, made with moisturizing shea butter, and will keep your hands and fingers looking model gorgeous all day long.
NYP Staff Review:

![A claw clip.](https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/06/Untitled-design-69.jpg?w=1024)

- Clip has bendable teeth to prevent it from breaking
- Good for all hair types
- Springs are hidden to create a more seamless look
Cons:

NYP Staff Review:
When I decided to become a Claw Clip Girl, I tried many different shapes and sizes to find one perfect for my shoulder-length hair that was comfortable enough that I’d forget it was there. Enter the Teleties claw clip: flexible and bendable with a curved shape and a strong grip. My hair may be short, but it is thick, and the medium clip keeps it all up and out of my face. — Tricarico

Pros:
- Improves elasticity and shine
- Contains vitamins from seabuckthorn oil
- Great for those with dry or color-treated hair
Cons:
- Makes the shower floor very slippery
Like skin, it’s important to incorporate beauty products that improve the elasticity of your hair. This hair mask from amika does just that, conditioning and sealing split ends. The jar is fairly large, too, so you’ll be able to enjoy it for more than a few washes.
NYP Staff Review:
Amika has five different hair masks, but personally, I’m obsessed with the soulfood mask for dry hair. If you’re looking for a deep conditioning mask to hydrate and bring some life back into your hair, this is the one for you. Pros:
- Light texture
- Results that can be seen in as little as two weeks
Cons:
- May not feel as moisturizing to those with dry skin
I wish there was an over-the-counter fix that fully tightened skin. However, this one is pretty darn good, especially when you check out the before-and-afters. Its L-carnitine improves the skin barrier, while Q10 fights against free radicals that damage skin. How does this help tighten? I can’t really say, but more than 17,000 customers on Amazon swear by it enough to give it a five-star rating.
NYP Staff Review:
I use this as a slip for when I use my dermaroller. I put it on directly after I shower, usually when my skin’s still damp. It absorbs super fast and doesn’t leave my skin sticky. While I prefer a cream moisturizer more, I’ve seen some improvement with it, plus it’s cheap! — Coley

NYP Staff Review:
Confession time: I’m a bottle blonde, and with hair that’s naturally medium brown, there’s a lot I put it through to get the color I want. Naturally, this means I have to take really good care of it between salon visits to keep the blonde vibrant. Recently, I’ve been loving the blue shampoo from Matrix. It works the same way as a purple shampoo does, by neutralizing brassy or silver tones in blonde hair, but this is made specifically for brunettes who go blonde. My hair is softer than ever since adding it into my hair rotation with a few other go-to products. — Tricarico
