Best Overall

Pelle Moda Ciann Low Heel

Pelle Moda Ciann Low Heel
Pelle Moda

Pros:

  • Cloud-level comfort
  • Low heel, so versatile for different types of wear
  • Well-made buckle and exterior

Cons:

  • Price point may be unreachable for some
  • Suede may not be suitable for certain weather conditions

When I first wore the Pelle Moda Ciann Low Heel, I thought, “wow, these are the new it-shoe.” I personally love a good low heel because they’re versatile and match with everything. Honestly, if I was on a deserted island and could save one shoe, it would be this pair right here.

Its heel is flared out slightly which offers a more modern look. It’s neutral shade is the ideal hue, with its buckle detailing always garnering compliments. The insoles have me feeling like a cloud and they’re true to size. Overall, they’re a phenomenal pair and, though a little bit of a splurge, they’re worth every penny.

Best Budget Heels: LifeStride Giovanna 2 Pump

LifeStride Giovanna 2 Pump
Amazon

Pros:

  • Plenty of shades to choose from
  • Breathable and stretchable fabric
  • Excellent traction

Cons:

  • Some may not love the intricate detailing at the center

The LifeStride Giovanna 2 Pump is less than $40 and offers a wonderful value for the price. Not only is its fabric stretchable and breathable but I find them to be the perfect Goldilocks heel height: not too high and not too low.

Its proprietary Soft System comfort provides all-day support, flex and cushioning. But, the most impressive feature of these shoes is their traction sole. This offers extra stability (in fact, I nearly tripped on concrete in Manhattan, and these were here to save me).

I love how the heels are classic yet offer a more intricate design at the center. This pair is made of partially recycled materials as well, so you’ll feel good about your purchase.

Best Splurge: Franco Sarto Atlas Block Heel Sandal

Franco Sarto Atlas Block Heel Sandal
Franco Sarto

Pros:

  • Neutral enough to match a variety of outfits
  • Wonderful for transitional weather
  • Beautiful gold hardware

Cons:

  • The price point may be unreachable for some

For a heel that’s worth the splurge, Franco Sarto’s Atlas Block Heel Sandal is at the top of my list. Sure, $140 seems like a hefty price to pay for heels you likely won’t wear every day but they’re the ideal situation for the price.

Allow me to explain — they’re the ideal transitional shoe for spring and fall, have an open-close design so your feet aren’t completely covered (yet not completely exposed) and are neutral enough to pair with anything. I love wearing this pair with maxi skirts and jeans alike and the gold hardware is beyond beautiful.

I love how versatile this pair is. Whether I’m off to work or going to a restaurant on the weekends, this pair is always one I reach for. And, most importantly, they never give me blisters.

Sam Edelman Bianka Slingback Pump

Sam Edelman Bianka Slingback Pump
Sam Edelman

Pros:

  • A wealth of colors and patterns to choose from
  • Cushioned insole for supreme comfort
  • Low heels to make them more practical

Cons:

  • May not be the best for wide feet as the heels come to a point
  • The price point may be unreachable for some

When I opt to wear the Sam Edelman Bianka Slingback Pump, I feel like I’m about to head onto a movie set — and it’s not only because I have the artsy floral pattern with scalloped fabric.

I love the slingback design because they offer me more stability and, above all else, they look photogenic whenever I wear them. Because of its low-heel design, I find them to be more practical. They also boast the cushioned insole that Sam Edelman is applauded for.

I’m not at all surprised they’re a brand best-seller because they’re offered in a variety of finishes — including leather, patent and a cloth-like fabric —and are the quintessential shoe. Why? You can order them in a solid-toned color and a pattern (because you’ll want to grab more than one).

Best High Heels: Lulus Suede Lace-Up Heels

Lulus Suede Lace-Up Heels
Lulus

Pros:

  • Stunning ankle wraparound detailing
  • On-trend “bar” design
  • Feels like you’re wearing an elevated pair of sneakers

Cons:

  • Mostly geared for warm weather
  • Suede may not be suitable for certain weather conditions

If you want to feel like you’re at a tropical resort and have your legs look amazing, you’ll opt for the Lulus Suede Lace-Up Heels. Made of decadent vegan suede, they’re a shoe that looks like $500 off a designer rack (but, in reality, these tippy-tops are just shy of $40!)

I love pairing these shoes with sundresses and printed shorts in the summertime. They also fare well with a plethora of jumpsuits I have on hand. The best part? They offer me height which, as someone who typically wears no more than a two-inch heel, I can appreciate at times for an extra confidence boost.

You may not believe me when I tell you this, but they truly feel like wearing a pair of sneakers, only elevated. They’re comfortable, come in other fun colors and are adored by Lulus fans everywhere, aside from yours truly at The Post (just read customer reviews for proof).

Best Low Heels: Ann Taylor Leather Pointy Toe Kitten Heel Pumps

Ann Taylor Leather Pointy Toe Kitten Heel Pumps
Ann Taylor

Pros:

  • Sophisticated, classy design
  • Easy to power walk in (*hint, hint*: work commutes)
  • Match-all; can be dressed up or down

Cons:

  • No other color options offered
  • No slingback design or material for added support
  • The price point may be unreachable for some

If you’re on the market for a one-and-done pair of low heels, the Ann Taylor Leather Pointy Toe Kitten Heel Pumps are an investment worth making. Its thin buckle makes me feel like the Princess of Genovia (side note: you’ll have to have watched “The Princess Diaries” to understand that reference). Prim, proper and comfortable — what more can I ask for?

Sophisticated and classy, these shoes truly exude comfort in every form. When crossing the street in the city, I do the little shuffle-skip maneuver, and this pair never lets me down. They stay put, they look great and they never give me unwanted blisters.

Franco Sarto Diva Low Heel Pump

Franco Sarto Diva Low Heel Pump
Franco Sarto

Pros:

  • Traditional design with a stylishly crafted kitten heel
  • Offered in a variety of colors
  • One of the most well-made exteriors tested

Cons:

  • Need some breaking in, but not a dealbreaker
  • The price point may be unreachable for some

No, Dorothy is still in Kansas, but you can be the next one in the gingham dress. Or, any outfit with these power shoes.

The Franco Sarto Diva Low Heel Pump is another worth-the-splurge purchase that I call my “statement” shoes. The sultry exterior is one of the most well-made options on this list and I love how other shades are available (spoiler alert: I may be picking up more).

Designed at the hands of Italian craftsman Gionata Pagni, its leather or suede materials are sustainably sourced, adding even more charm to your glossy new pair of heels. I love the subtle design on the heel and the slightly square design at the front gives it a bit more style, while still upholding everything a traditional heel should exhibit.

Best Nude Heels: Dream Pairs Wonder Cloud Aphrodite Ruched Square Toe Kitten Heel Sandals

Dream Pairs Wonder Cloud Aphrodite Ruched Square Toe Kitten Heel Sandals
Amazon

Pros:

  • Truly dreamy to walk in
  • Great for any occasion
  • The ankle strap and toe band offer added security and comfort

Cons:

  • Some may prefer the sculpted heel to be a bit straighter

One of my most-recommended heels to my friends, family members, work colleagues and *literally* people on the street is the Dream Pairs Wonder Cloud Aphrodite Ruched Square Toe Kitten Heel Sandals. Impressively, they’re less than $50 and truly feel like a dream.

The brand, much like LifeStride, is well-known for its affinity to plush comfort at accessible price points. This wins the award for best nude heels because they’re the ones I typically reach to with a variety of outfits. Even better, they’re great for driving, commuting and partying alike.

The ankle strap allows them to feel even more secure when worn. Plus, the thick band near the toes helps prevent blisters and offers another layer of support

Best Black Heels: Boden Suede-Bow Heeled Courts

Boden Suede-Bow Heeled Courts
Boden

Cons:

  • Stunning on the foot, especially for dressed-up occasions
  • Made from sustainably sourced leather
  • Subtle bow accent

Pros:

  • Some may prefer a lower heel
  • The price point may be unreachable for some

Just like an LBD (that’s little black dress for short), the Boden Suede-Bow Heeled Courts are one of my favorites and have been in my wardrobe for years. They’re well-made, offer a statement (especially if you opt for its hot pink shade) and always garner plenty of compliments.

If you’re on the market for a true black pair of skinny heels, this one looks like it would be $500+ at designer retailers. I love how they’re a tried-and-true. There’s not much else to say but this: they’re comfortable, they look great and they’re a trusty, well-made pair.

Vince Camuto Hailenda Pump

Vince Camuto Hailenda Pump
Amazon

Pros:

  • Affordable, for the comfort and look
  • Polished, subtly retro design
  • Comfortable at the back of the heel, specifically

Cons:

  • Not entirely practical for everyday wear

Vince Camuto truly knows how to architect a heel, as evident with the designer’s Hailenda Pump. I love its polished design, with its pointed toe surprisingly comfortable for my subtly wide feet.

I don’t know why, but these heels make me feel like I’m on the cast of “Pretty Little Liars” (in other words, I feel like a chic Ally from Rosewood). They’re available in a wealth of shades you’ll want to snatch and they slip on like a glove.

For some reason, I anticipated these shoes to be not-so-comfy. But, after years of wearing them, I found a pair of black heels I love. While I only reach for them on special occasions, this is kind of my reminder to style them more — with jeans, maxi skirts and whatever else I find in my closet.

Best Platform Heels: M.Gemi The Lizza Nuova

M.Gemi The Lizza Nuova
M.Gemi

Pros:

  • One of the most stylish and sophisticated among all heels tested
  • Hand-made in Italy with some of the best materials
  • Offered in a wealth of colors and fabrics

Cons:

  • The price point may be unreachable for some
  • May become scuffed over time if worn in certain conditions (grass, etc.)

I can’t stop glossing over the M.Gemi The Lizza Nuova. While they’re the most expensive pair of heels on this list, they shine like no other. They also make me feel like Barbie, all thanks to their glossy platform look, adorable buckle and all-around incredible design.

This isn’t the only color I have of The Lizza Nuova, either. I also have the “Navy Suede” color which is a terrific match with jeans. With a flared, graphic heel and lifted platform, you’ll feel like a superstar. Hey, maybe in the Barbie Dreamhouse, like I do.

Being handmade in Tuscany, Italy also gives the pair another check-plus in the pair’s favor (as a fellow Italian, may I add). They have one of the most photogenic looks with a truly comfortable sole, allowing me to always step with my best foot forward.

Best for Weddings: SHEIN Rhinestone & Flower Clear Chunky Heeled Sandals

SHEIN Rhinestone & Flower Clear Chunky Heeled Sandals
SHEIN

Pros:

  • Affordable and long-lasting
  • One of the most unique and stylish designs worn
  • Secure strap to ensure they’re comfortable while staying put

Cons:

  • May not be the best pick for cold weather, though up to preference

OK, I know I said I’d take the Pelle Moda Ciann Low Heel — the best overall comfy heel pick — with me as the sole shoe pick on a deserted island. But, if I was invited to a wedding, I truly couldn’t live without the SHEIN Rhinestone & Flower Clear Chunky Heeled Sandals.

For less than $20, here’s my word of advice: buy the dang shoes. I call this pair my “wedding shoes”; last year, I attended four weddings and wore these to every single one. You wouldn’t believe how many compliments I received, either.

I’ve had this pair for more than three years and I truly can’t complain. With the price, rhinestone design and secure strap, you’ll be reaching for these every day of the week — wedding or not.

SHEIN Rhinestone Sculptural Heeled Sandal

SHEIN Rhinestone Sculptural Heeled Sandal
SHEIN

Pros:

  • Undeniably adorable, trendy and classy
  • Affordable and elevated for special occasions
  • Match with nearly any dress

Cons:

  • Doesn’t have a slingback design for added support

Similarly, the SHEIN Rhinestone Sculptural Heeled Sandal offers a bit of rhinestone-embossed class to your wedding guest heels. I call these my “Cinderella shoes”; they have the look, the statement and even the glass heel to make them truly one-of-a-kind.

I love pairing these heels with cocktail dresses and other wedding guest dresses in my wardrobe. I can’t believe they’re less than $25 either, making them an incredible value and look overall.

Best for Work: LifeStride Marlee Pump

LifeStride Marlee Pump
LifeStride

Pros:

  • One of the most comfortable for long days
  • Adjustable buckle and doesn’t-feel-like-a-heel comfort
  • Versatile to style

Cons:

  • The pointed tops will become worn over time with frequent use

Meet the pair of heels I’ve had in my wardrobe for more than three years now: the LifeStride Marlee Pump. When we were all returning to the office, this was the pair I picked up. Whether I was wearing a head-to-toe neutral outfit or I was in darker shades, I still reached for this particular pair the most.

As a bonafide comfort pair, they have never let me down when I made the trip from NJ to NYC each day I commuted to the office. They’re also the perfect don’t-think-about-it slip-ons for I regularly put on when I’m shuffling out the door to meet a friend. In short, they’re versatile and have a classic, modest look to them.

For less than $100, I’m fully convinced everyone needs this pair of work shoes. The buckle is adjustable, the heel doesn’t even feel like you’re wearing heels at all and they come from one of my favorite brands for comfort. Check yes, Juliet.

Sam Edelman Tracie Slingback Heel

Sam Edelman Tracie Slingback Heel
Sam Edelman

Pros:

  • Feel like you’re gliding when walking for long distances
  • Classic yet unique design
  • Comfortable block heel with slingback design

Cons:

  • The price point may be unreachable for some

If Audrey Hepburn had a pair of heels, this would be the pair. I’ve loved to wear the Sam Edelman Tracie Slingback Heel, especially for its comfortable block heel, secure slingback design and adorable detailing. The robin’s egg blue color is also second to none, though more shades are available.

They’re a splurge, but surely worth it for their comfort. I love walking in them when on my way to work, specifically, because I know they won’t grow uncomfortable midday. They add a talking point when worn with my pencil skirts, jeans and dresses, so I’d recommend them to anyone opting for a more unique yet not too-out-there heel option that’s a bit more akin to the a-typical ballet flat in terms of waltz-around comfort.

Best Heeled Boots: Lulus Sarai Pointed-Toe Ankle Boots

Lulus Sarai Pointed-Toe Ankle Boots
Lulus

Pros:

  • Affordable with a great look
  • Glossy exterior that gives them a little somethin’ something
  • Great for wide feet

Cons:

  • Not the best for cropped jeans, as the tops of them may slightly scratch the skin if exposed

If you want to be a trendsetter, you’ll pick up the Lulus Sarai Pointed-Toe Ankle Boots. For less than $50 (!!!) they’re the Boots Poster Child for everything I’m looking for: comfort, a glossy exterior, an average heel height and a flattering shape to kick up the confidence.

Its smooth vegan leather gives these booties a nice shape, with its pointed-toe upper offering the pair a slightly Western feel without being a full-on cowgirl. The block heel is on trend and I love its side zipper detailing that allows me to easily pull them on or off.

With a glossy shine, they always are the booties that have people asking, “Where’d you get those?” And to that, I say, Lulus.

Best Heeled Sandals: Ann Taylor Chain Leather Block Heel Mule Sandals

Ann Taylor Chain Leather Block Heel Mule Sandals
Ann Taylor

Pros:

  • Offer the practicality of a mule with the sophistication of a pump
  • True to size
  • A subtle buckle accessory is a nice touch

Cons:

  • The price point may be unreachable for some
  • Sellout risk

The Ann Taylor Chain Leather Block Heel Mule Sandals have something special about them, leading them to eventually land in my shoe collection. The star of the show is the gold buckle detailing and that lovely sloped block heel.

I love the ivory look. Considering most of my heel collection is nude, this is a nice venture out of my comfort zone (though, not really — it’s not like they’re a deep purple or anything).

The best way to describe this pair is as follows: They offer the practicality of a mule with the sophistication of a pump. At Ann Taylor, you’ll have to act quickly, but I love how my shoe fits inside quickly like the pair was made for them.

Billini Vanilla Heel

Billini Vanilla Heel
Billini

Pros:

  • The low heel makes them more practical
  • Flattering to the feet
  • Slingback design to offer more comfort and support

Cons:

  • Not the best for wide feet

For less than $75, the Billini Vanilla Heel is what I love wearing to warm-weather parties. The cross-over strap detailing is unlike anything I own, and I love how they’re low to the ground. In essence, they have that my-sandals-but-better look.

I have partially wide feet and these aren’t the best for them. However, they still fit and, because they’re so comfortable, continue to be in my heels rotation (yes, I have one of those, especially after crafting this review). They’re giving 70s retro-white mixed with on-trend block heels, and I love that about them.

More, this Billini pair boasts a slingback design to offer more comfort and support. If you’re on the hunt for a white pair, this is it, though Antique Gold is also available to order online.

Pink Lily Reese Nude Pearl Strap Heels

Pink Lily Reese Nude Pearl Strap Heels
Pink Lily

Pros:

  • Pearl accents are a nice, dainty touch
  • Average heel height
  • Affordable, long-lasting and well-made

Cons:

  • Sellout risk

The Pink Lily Reese Nude Pearl Strap Heels have become one of my favorite heels, largely in part to its pearl design. The double-band detailing and girly flair make them ideal for bridal occasions, too, like showers and bachelorette trips.

I love Pink Lily more than shoes (side note: its dresses and loungewear will make you want to have a shopping party). Similar to Ann Taylor, Pink Lily tends to have a *major* sellout risk, so I’d grab them while you still can.

They look flattering with just about anything I wear, especially heels and skirts. They match perfectly with my pearl hoop earrings, too, helping to complete the look.

Steve Madden Santana Raffia Heeled Mules

Steve Madden Santana Raffia Heeled Mules
Steve Madden

Pros:

  • Undeniably cute for summertime
  • Fairly priced with well-made materials

Cons:

  • More of a seasonal heel, compared to some others tested
  • No slingback design for added support

There’s nothing quite like the Steve Madden Santana Raffia Heeled Mules. I’d say they exude “summertime sophistication” with just the right height, a wicker-like exterior and gold accessories.

Hailing from one of the most popular and comfortable shoe brands, this pair is on-brand with other styles from Steve Madden I love, like the Becka Tan Leather Slingback Block Heel Pump ($100).

Its slip-on style always makes it look like I put *way* more effort into my outfit than I did, serving me well when I’m getting ready in a pinch and have no idea of what shoes to wear (the worst feeling, to say the least). However, I always feel put-together and stylish with these. For less than $100, I’ll say it again: buy the dang shoes.

Best Pumps: Kelly & Katie Genna Pump

Kelly & Katie Genna Pump
DSW

Pros:

  • Offered in a variety of colors (side note: you’ll want to pick up everyone!)
  • Comfortable insole and equally as comfortable heel

Cons:

  • The rim of the heel will become scuffed over time with frequent use

I’m not going to lie, I’ve had the Kelly & Katie Genna Pump in my closet for a while. And, rightfully so, as they’re (1) comfortable and (2) look like a stock image for what a high heel should be.

At only $50, this pair of heels may be one of your best values yet. I wore them on several extracurricular formal activities (job fairs, interviews, you know the drill) and they never let me down. In fact, I ran to DSW to pick up another pair because they’re my most-worn pumps — and the most comfortable “true pumps” I own. There’s no going back on these.

Other Comfortable Heels We Recommend (But Haven’t Reviewed)

Cole Haan Grand Ambition Pump

Image of black heel
Cole Haan

Pros:

  • Available in eight different colors at Zappos
  • Classic look and fit
  • Wrap around heel and cushioned footbed

Cons:

  • May run slightly large for those with a narrow foot — size down if this is you.

It’s elegant silhouette is constructed “embracing the contours of your body” to create the perfect fit. The shoe also features responsive cushioning that adds the perfect level of padding for each step. And did we mention how perfect each detail is, such as the front gold trim? One happy customer called them “the most comfortable heels ever!” Here’s what else she had to say:

Bibi Lou Valencia Heels

A pair of green patent leather high heel loafers
Anthropologie

Pros:

  • Available in seven colors
  • Gold buckle detail
  • Works with a variety of looks

Cons:

  • If your feet are on the wider side, consider sizing up.

Whether you’re searching the most comfortable heels for the office or need something casual to wear around town, these may be your new go-to. The shorty and chunky heel of the Bibi Lou loafers make them easy to walk in, plus their patent leather exterior is the epitome of chic. In the spring or summer, pair with a mini skirt and Bobbi socks for a cute girl-next-door look. In cooler months, switch the socks for stockings.

Customer review: “I have [received] a ton of compliments and can walk for miles in NYC in them. Great shoe!”

Product details: Heel height: 2.75 | Sizes: 4.5-12 | Material: patent leather

Sarah Flint Perfect Sandal 85

Black stiletto heel
Sarah Flint

Pros:

  • Extra padding in the footbed
  • Gold metal buckle detail
  • Foot-conforming arch support
  • Great for those with larger feet

Cons:

  • Potentially not a great fit for those who dislike a higher-heel

There’s nothing like a sexy black pump, but if it pinches and squeezes, the shoes are going straight back to the store! Thankfully, this pair of Sarah Flint heels are beyond comfortable. Not only do they feature a high, slim heel shaft, but the shoe features a wide toe box to minimize crowding and anatomical arch support. Your feet will also thank you for choosing a pair of heels that come with 6mm of extra padding added to the footbed.

Customer review: “I love my black suede Perfect Sandal for special occasions! They’re actually really comfortable considering the [3.3 inch height], and you can tell they’re really great quality. Super quick shipping, luxe packaging and are beautiful shoes, overall. Love them!”

Product details: Heel size: 3.3 inches | Sizes: 4-13 | Material: Italian suede

Everlane The Day Heel

Image of tan heels
Everlane

Pros:

  • Flexible heel back
  • Block-style heel
  • Available in four colors
  • More than 5,000 reviews on Everlane

Cons:

  • May run larger for those with a 6.5 or under shoe size
  • Size up if your foot is a 9 or higher

The cult-classic Everlane The Day Heel is back in stock, but there’s no guarantee it’ll stay that way. After all, the brand itself says it’s “a heel you can walk in. All. Damn. Day.” Choose from black, bone-stacked or light taupe leather colors. The ballet-inspired silhouette features a rounded toe, a two-inch block heel and an elasticized back that makes it easy to slip on and off.

Customer review: “I’m not a heels gal, but these fit like a glove and are so comfortable throughout the day. I got the brilliant blue color, which I love because it adds a great pop of color!”

Product details: Heel size: 2 inches | Sizes: 5-11 | Material: 100% leather

Nisolo Dari Commuter Boot

A black boot with a high block heel
Nisolo

Pros:

  • Shock-absorbing cushioned insoles
  • Slip resistant rubber heel caps
  • Available in four colors
  • Sustainably made

Cons:

  • Runs small — go up half a size

During the colder seasons, many of us prefer a shoe with extra coverage. A boot, like the Nisolo Dari Commuter, is a gorgeous option that’s perfect for daily wear. It’s block heel is easy to stand in, plus the footbed has shock absorption to make pounding the pavement a lot gentler on feet. The gold metal of the zipper is eye-catching, elevating the shoe in a subtle but effective way. Whether you pair with leggings and a skirt or your favorite jeans, you’ll be sure to earn a few compliments with these.

Customer review: “These are so cute, so comfortable right out the box and the perfect heel height. You can tell the leather is high quality and I, of course, love how Nisolo supports fair wages and work environments. These are boots I will have for a long long time.”

Product details: Heel height: 2.5 inches | Sizes: 5-11 | Material: Waterproof leather

Sam Edelman Hazel Pointed Toe Pump

A pair of patent leather pumps
Sam Edelman

Pros:

  • Available in more than 12 colors
  • Fit technology for extra cushion
  • 5-star rating on Zappos

Cons:

  • Fit may feel off for narrow or wide feet. Purchase from Sam Edelman for width selection

Pointed toes were big in 2023 and we’re predicting they’re still be trending in 2024. We, like many others, love these comfortable heels from Sam Edelman. The Hazel Pointed Toe Pump has a classic look, is a little sexy and works perfect with a pencil skirt or LBD. The insole has a padded sock, which cushions the foot to minimize blisters and other pains. The shoes are available in more than a dozen colors and come in a variety of finishes, such as velvet, suede, and patent leather. We’re officially obsessed and so are hundreds of other people.

Vivaia Round-Toe Chunky Heels

Chunky heels knit shoes
Vivaia

Pros:

  • Blister-proof padded back heel
  • Double arch support, shock-absorbing heel rebound and pressure-relief diamond pattern
  • Available in 11 colors/fabrics

Cons:

  • Fabric makes the shoe not a good pick for rainy or snowy days

With a retro-inspired design, round toe, chunky heel and knit upper, these Vivaia heels are next level. They remind us a little of Chanel, which doesn’t bother us in the least. Ideal for those who prefer a shorter heel, nine of the 11 styles available come with upgraded relief insoles. There’s also rebound support throughout the heel, arch and foot, so you’ll stay ache-free all day long.

Customer review: “Satisfied customer here! So comfy as my job required to stand and walk all day! Such great and practical shoes. Love it! And i will order more soon! Highly recommended for anyone who has to move all day! Just amazing!”

Aerosoles Cosmo Suede Sandal

Black suede platform heels.
Aerosoles

Pros:

  • Flexible
  • Block heel style shoe
  • Available in 14 colors

Cons:

  • Some reviewers say it runs large

The Aerosoles Cosmo Suede Sandals are designed with a diamond flex outsole and an ortholite insole that move with your foot, providing stability, cushion and comfort. The open-toe design makes them wonderful for spring, as well as summer. However, they can be enjoyed year-round if paired with a pair of brightly colored stockings. They come in a variety of colors but do run large, according to some customers, so if your foot is narrow, size down.

Customer review: “Typically I’m unable to walk in heels but these beauties allow me to walk all day. They are comfy without sacrificing height. They fit true to size. The fast shipping was a plus! Get yourself a pair, you won’t regret it!”

Product details: Heel height: 2.56 inches | Sizes: 5-12 | Material: Various

Anne Klein Carole Pump

A navy blue suede pump
DSW

Pros:

  • Available in two colors
  • Flexible and with an elasticized top-line
  • Padded insole

Cons:

  • May feel too high for some

We love these pumps from Anne Klein, and so do hundreds of customers who grabbed them on DSW. Offering 90-degree flexibility, they move with your natural stride, giving them that already broken-in feel. According to their average customer rating, they fit true to size and have a padded footbed for an extra touch of comfort. They’re available in two colors and make a great work shoe.

Customer review:I got these for work. Classy black work shoe. Super comfortable. Great inside cushion and great sole. The sole is thick, so walking around is east.”

Product details: Heel height: 3 inches | Sizes: 6-11 | Material: fabric upper, rubber sole

Naturalizer Vera Dress Sandal

Image of nude heels
Naturalizer

Pros:

  • 1,300 five-star reviews on Amazon
  • Available in 32 colors
  • Block heel sandal style
  • Cushioned footbed

Cons:

  • Not great for cooler seasons

What does “nude” even mean? Well, it depends on your own individual skin tone, and thankfully Naturalizer understands that. A part of their “True Colors” collection, the Vera Dress Sandal come in a variety of colors, including several nude shades. Better yet, the block heel, ankle strap and Contour+ technology make for superior comfort. One reviewer even shared that the heel was still beyond comfortable after six straight hours of wear. Further heel features include a leather or suede upper, an open toe, an adjustable buckle closure and more.

Customer review: “Loved the shoes! I don’t like wearing too high heels due to back issues. These were great for all day wear and gave me the height I needed to wear a long dress. Would highly recommend!

Christian Louboutin Apostrophy Leather Pointed Red-Sole Pumps

A single nude shoe from Louboutin
Neiman Marcus

Pros:

  • Available in two colors
  • Bestseller
  • Iconic red bottom

Cons:

  • The retailer says it runs large, but several reviewers on Google suggest sizing up if you have wider feet

If you can afford these, we’re jealous. Like, very jealous, because it doesn’t get more luxe than this designer shoe. From the classic silhouette to the iconic red bottom, it’s sophisticated, feminine and timeless. Capable of making the cheapest jeans look upscale and the most basic LBD exciting, every woman deserves to have at least one pair in their closet.

Customer review: “My first red bottoms purchase! I was specifically looking for soft leather pumps, a versatile style, and something not too high or low. I bought it for my upcoming wedding and for more than just one wear after the wedding. Super excited about these! The only note is that they do seem to run small. I am usually a size 8 in other shoes but have wider feet, so I sized up to size 9 and they fit great! “

Jessica Simpson Irbella Platform Sandal

A light pink platform high heel
DSW

Pros:

  • Great for dressy occasions
  • Available in three colors
  • Rounded toe

Cons:

  • May not be great in colder/wet weather

Are these platforms as high as heaven? Yep! But more than 400 folks give them a five-star rating on DSW and they instantly upgrade any dress in your closet. In terms of walkability, the platform-style footbed actually puts less strain on the back of the heel, so they’re far more comfortable than they seem.

Customer review: “Had a wedding and needed a tall pair of heels for a floor-length dress I did not have time to get hemmed. Found these beauties and they were surprisingly comfortable for the height. The wedding was on a cruise and elevators were not available while they loaded our luggage, so I did quite a few flights of stairs and walked in these heels.”

Nine West Quanette Platform Booties

A high heeled black boot
Nine West

Pros:

  • Available in two colors
  • Platform footbed
  • Almond-shaped toe

Cons:

  • The footbed could use more cushion

For a little extra foot protection, look to a boot-style shoe like this one from Nine West. It has a five-star rating, looks amazing with bootcut or skinny jeans, and is currently on sale. As far as comfort, it may not be the best fit for people with sensitive ankles. However, the raised platform will take some stress of the area, as well as calf. If your foot is particularly boney, consider adding an insole.

Customer review: “Very comfortable and the height is perfect — very sexy.”

A pair of pumps in a snake print.

How we tested

Most Comfortable Heels Review
New York Post Composite

Some of these shoes were worn for at least one month while others were worn for as long as six years. Some are new-ish (to me, at least) favorite pairs, while others are tried-and-true staples on my shoe rack. Ahead, here’s the testing criteria I kept in mind while waltzing around in each of these heels:

  • Comfort: This wouldn’t be a comfortable heels roundup without placing comfort at the forefront of what I was looking for. Dialing it down to the basics, if any heel tested provided me an ounce of discomfort, it didn’t make the final cut.
  • Versatility: Of course, some heels are positioned to be worn for special occasions while others have a penchant for everyday wear. I kept this characteristic in mind while testing.
  • Value: The saying, “you get what you pay for” is sometimes true — and the proof is below. Some shoes are *so* worth the money, they’re deeply explained while others are $20 (or even less!) and still amaze me each time I wear them.

These shoes were worn to work, to weddings, to weekend brunches and everything in between. I know the struggle of ordering shoes online, so this is dedicated to everyone who wants an easy shopping experience (trust me on this one).

What are comfortable heels for standing all day?

Regardless of your personal style, there are some key things to consider when selecting a shoe you’re going to be standing all day in.

Heels with a round or square toe, for example, may be preferable to those that are pointed. The reason for this is that they tend to be more breathable. No one wants to deal with sweaty, squished feet, right?

Heel length is another thing to look at. Higher heels generally mean more pressure on calves, ankles and feet. If you can’t stand the idea of anything below 2 inches, look for block style heels like the ones offered by Aerosoles ($135). The chunkier base offers a larger surface for you to balance on, making it easier to walk.

Finally, shoes with built-in cushions tend to be more pampering. For this reason, we like shoe brands like Naturalizer, who offer lots of different styles of comfortable heels that have a supportive design.

What is the most comfortable heel height for work?

The most comfortable heel height is whatever you feel good standing for long periods in — obviously. However, as a rule of thumb, the shorter the height, the easier on your tootsies. According to our research, podiatrists tend to recommend forgoing anything above 3 inches when foot health is concerned. However, as we’ve already discussed, this still leaves you with a lot of options.

Introducing, the comfiest heels you’ll ever own.

Curated from top brands such as Cole Haan and Everlane, you’ll find a list of the most comfortable women’s heels for work, weddings, commutes and more. Simply browse the options below to find your perfect sole mate.

What brand make the most comfortable shoes?

Once upon a time, people thought you had to sacrifice comfort in the name of fashion. Fortunately, we now know that’s not true. In fact, when shoes are concerned, there are many brands that make super cute and comfortable heels for work, play, weddings — every occasion. Here are some we always look to when craving a new pair:
