Leverage luck and numerology to increase your odds of winning the lotto

Pick your numbers and scratch your tickets, my babies — let’s talk lottery.

America has always celebrated the lottery as a way to fund civic projects like war, political cover-ups, and pothole repair. And despite all evidence to the contrary, we are and remain a hopeful people, believing we’re one lucky day and a handful of numbers away from turning it all around.

In terms of luck and as The Post reports, “The most frequently drawn winning numbers from the main barrel are 17, 7, 11, 2, 3 and 9, while the least frequently drawn are 33, 15, 34, 31, 26 and 1.

When it comes to playing to win, strategies vary, some people like the quick hit of a quick pick while others spend considerable time and energy applying formulas and logic (cough Capricorns, cough Aquarius) to their choices.

Yet another approach to striking it rich is to choose your picks using Numerology.

How to choose with Numerology

Numerology is the belief the sacred or mystical relationship between a number and a person or coinciding events. Those who practice/subscribe to Numerology believe that numbers appear in significant repetitive patterns throughout a person’s lifetime.

Among these digits is the hallowed life path number, determined by your date of birth and the sum of the numbers within it.

For example, if you were born March 22, 1990 your birth date would break down (and build you up) as 3+2+2+1+9+9+0 = 26. You could use 26 as a pick on a lottery ticket or take it a step further and add 2+6 to find your life path number of 8 and player play on.

You can also use the current date or your preferred date of play to pick your winning number.

In Numerology as well as astrology, the current date is rightly imbued with its own specific energy. You can apply the same formula/equation for life path numbers to the current date to determine what numbers to play. Simply add the digits of the day, month, and year and play that number and/or reduce that sum to a single digit.

Numbers under/over 30

As Thomas Metzger, CEO of Lotto.com explains most people base their picks on the more obvious numbers of their birthdate.

“Due to the fact that no month has more than 31 days, numbers 32 and above are commonly overlooked. Picking a combination of numbers above and below 31 reduces your chances of winning the big prize.”

Yet, while, statistically speaking each number has the same odds of being drawn, the probability that you’ll have to share a jackpot of gold is smaller when you select less popular numbers and if you go beyond 31 when making your picks you’re less likely to have to share the wealth with a mess of strangers.

Avoid lucky number 7

Going as far back as ancient Babylonian texts, humans have long loved the number seven. From dwarves to sins to natural wonders it is the most popular number, and also the only one from 1-10 that cannot be divided or multiplied within that group.

Rebel, rebel.

Due to our preference for the glory of seven it is one of the most oft-picked numbers and if you’re looking to diversify or to avoid sharing your winnings with others, avoid it entirely.

Give unlucky number 13 a chance to play

13 gets a bad rap because of a certain death-heavy dinner party. There were thirteen guests at the last supper and redheaded coin-loving Judas was the last guest to arrive, solidifying the bad vibes. Thusly, lottery enthusiasts often play it safe and leave 13 as the literal odd number out.

Yet, as Lotto.com maintains, “Despite its bad associations, the probability of it being drawn is statistically no higher or lower than any other number.”

To quick pick or not to quick pick

Opinions are split about whether quick picks are the best bet to win big. dennizn – stock.adobe.com

According to Thomas Metzger, CEO of Lotto.com your best bet for winning big is to go the route of the “your best odds are doing a quick pick.”

This is a real deal, Jesus take the wheel approach to winning; you allow the Quick Pick tool to generate a random set of numbers ranging from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 to 23, 40, 38, 30, 33, 44, which will appear just as often as any other combination. If those numbers appear, you have a considerably better chance of winning a larger portion, if not the entire jackpot!”

This advice is contested by seven-time lotto winner Richard Lustig who maintained that the hopeful should avoid random combinations and play the same set of numbers every time.

“Only play what you can afford to lose.”

Richard Lustig

Lustig told “Forbes,” “Even though it seems like every number has an equal amount of ‘luck,’ certain number sets are better than others. Every time you buy a quick pick, you get a different set of numbers; therefore, your odds are always going to be at their worst in that particular game, whatever game you’re playing.”

Lutzig also had a primary piece of choice advice about life, love and lotto, “Only play what you can afford to lose.”
